Wham Bam The Jam!
One of the most relevant and important bands Britain has ever produced, aged just 19 Paul Weller found himself the spokesperson for a generation, my generation. His social awareness and political savvy belied his young age , at last we had something to hang on to and believe in. Classic pop tunes such as " tube station", " start" ," going underground "," Eton rifles " still relevant nearly 40 years after their original release. Let's not forget Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler the heartbeat of this extraordinary band, I'm just glad I was around at the same time as they were to experience it all first hand.Great band, great songs buy it now and relive those heady days of the late 70's.

The Jam Greatest Hits
Product came quickly and as described and in perfect condition. The song choice was a pretty evenly spread over the Jam's career. A good introduction to the Jam. The album notes were kind of iritating, and whoever had written them was clearly a massive Weller fan-boy, and dismissed Foxton and Buckler's contributions. Aside from that, this is a fun CD with some brilliant songs!

The Jam - Greatest Hits
Greatest Hits is a good little Jam compilation, basically being Compact Snap CD with a couple of tracks removed/replaced. And being released just before the Jam's remastering campaign began the sound quality is pretty close to the original Compact Snap disc. But unlike Compact Snap, Greatest Hits uses the album mixes of This Is The Modern World and That's Entertainment. So, what more is there to say? This CD gives exactly what it says on the cover. All of the band's hit singles. The only downside (in my opinion, of course) is the inclusion of Just Who Is The Five O'Clock Hero, which sounds very much out of place stylistically and production-wise amongst the final few tracks. Whilst they each show a distinct progression and maturing of the band's sound, this one is noticeably retrograde to the extent of sounding like it was dropped in by accident. So for that sin of breaking the flow of brilliance I'm removing a star.
