UTG Add-on Index Wheel for Side Wheel AO Scope, 80mm

I like the old ones as well, but the new style is a LOT lighter than the older style. Works the same, just designed without a lot of bulk aluminum where it isn't needed. I'll probably replace my old style wheels, but slowly, they work just as good. If this will fit your scope, you need it. The focus knobs on most of mine are difficult to turn, but with the wheel on it's easy to adjust for a nice crisp image. As the other reviewers noted, it's also easy to find by feel while you are looking through the scope (given that you are on the bipod). Also looks totally pro. A very nice addition, and for the price it's a super deal. ADDED: (from my prior review of the prior generation wheel) If you use a high magnification scope with a big objective lens you get a nice bright image, but your depth of field (how much stuff is in focus at one time) becomes very small. This means you have to focus the scope for different range targets. Without the wheel that's not a difficult task, but you do have to move your hand to the knob, adjust, then get back in position. A small turn of the knob makes a big difference in where you are focused, as well. Add the Big Wheel to the mix and you can scoot your left hand back on the foregrip and reach the wheel, and moving the edge of the wheel a little makes a little difference in the focus. Your rifle looks more techno, and it works better. For the money, it's hard to make a better change! 8^) If you are wondering, the focus at the eyepiece of your scope will change the focus on your image AND on your crosshairs. You use that to adjust so that your crosshairs (or whatever reticle you have) are perfectly sharp, as everyone's eyes are a little different. The wheel attaches to the objective end focus knob (objective being the big lens at the front of the scope) so you can focus on the target, and it doesn't change the focus on your reticle. A 4x scope with a 32mm objective doesn't need to focus the objective, while a 16x with a 56mm absolutely MUST include objective focusing to work. FYI.

Early days, but I like it. I see some negative reviews, so I'm going to address some of those concerns. First, the scope comes with the range adjustment knob, which I am not used to and seems really stiff to adjust with the small knob. For me, this wheel solves those problems and it looks strangely cool to boot. I was worried that it would not go on firmly and that it might come off. There are two set screws and an allan wrench to apply those set screws. The inside of the attaching circle is shaped like the knob but it has heavy rubber to tightly press over the OEM knob ... tightly. I think you could get away without the set screws, but putting the two on made mine nicely tight. On concern I saw on another post was that the wheel hit someone's scope mount. To that (particularly for an AR) I would say that we all play with our setup until we get it where we like it. I bet I changed my mounting configuration 6 times before I found the write hardware/location combination that I liked. The complaint was that the wheel hit the person's quick release. For me, I learned to put my quick release on the other side ... the side with the brass ejection port (or dust cover) where it was more out of the way. If you do that, you also buy yourself more operator space not only for the magazine ejection and bolt release buttons but you also buy room to operate the wheel. I don't have a problem with it. I have three ARs (in difference calibers) that I want to set up the same way, so I bought one of these as an experiment from Amazon and I bought a used one (to invest less in my experiment) and I will be buying more ... one for each of these scopes on each of my ARs. I like the leverage and simplicity of operation you get with this and it makes smaller adjustment increments much easier and more precise. I'm in.

I've bought several UTG scope, red dot, mounts and have never had an issue wigth any of them. I have heard horror stories about their quality control and guess I'm the lucky guy that always gets the good stuff, or others expect to get the same results from this as a scope costing several thousand dollars. I added their max strength LE grade quick detatch Picatiinny scope rings and 80mmAO wheel and have a really nice 3-12 scope for much less than I paid for an ART rangefinder II. It works well on my M4 and only took six rounds to get sighted in after setting it up with a laser bore sight. With tyhis scope and accessory set up on my M4 using facory PMC 55gr ammo I'm shooting five shot groups to three hundred yards that I can cover with a quarter. Make no mistake, I'm no Gunny Hathcock by any means and find this to be a very reliable and inexpensive tool. I've shot three hundred rounds with it, have removed it and replace it and the zero is still good to go. The optional mounting rings are higher and are just what I needed. The 80mm wheel makes using the rangefinder feature that much easier. I'd buy the same set up again if I had to.

First look, this Side Wheel (SW) is a nice looking part and good quality, easy to read characters on the ring. Tried to install without success; the inner Rubber doesn't fit the Scope because of the description posted by Amazon. It doesn't go on the Scope and since to keep it but as usual for a lot of customers on Amazon it is past the Amazon Return Policy; I will have to contact the manufacturer. Update - 02/08/2022: Per the Manufacturer this Side Wheel, SW080B, does not fit the Scope that it states it does, 3-12x44. I purchased this SW based on the information given by Amazon and it is the wrong and I am stuck with the wrong part... Amazon needs to review their procedures. This is the first time I have been stuck by Amazon and I don't think it is right, four months... ! Nothing wrong with the part, I don't want to change my rating because it was Amazon's faulty information that is the problem. Amazon...CHANGE YOUR RETURN POLICIES !

Great product for the price. Thought I’d get more but realized would not fit other guns. Too big wouldn’t clear. But worked great on one. Makes rapid adjustment precise. Great for game or competition.

The index wheel is well manufactured, however the design incorporates a rubber inner bushing which always makes the index wheel feel loose. Tightening the set screws presses against the rubber bushing and never really secures it. After 20 or so rounds of 30-06 recoil, the index wheel begins to back out of the fully seated position. Perhaps an all aluminum index wheel would work better, or a bushing made from a more rigid material.

I purchased the UTG Swat 4x12x44mm IR mil dot scope, along with this wheel. I think, honestly, I was going for the "cool" factor vs functionality. But it really surprised me how much this helps! It allows much finer adjustment to the otherwise stiff objective knob. The indicator marks line up perfectly with the ones on my Swat scope, and the wheel sits nice and flush. I suppose if you are real tough on your rifle, the two little set screws that secure it into place may not do there job - but just a better reason to take care of your rifle. At the end of the day, all I can say is buy this if you frequently shoot at varying distances, its well worth it!
