Siberian Husky Hardcover – May 10, 2007

This is one of the best books on the Siberian Husky I have bumped into. I'd call it a must have book for anyone: interested in, thinking about adopting, going to be working with, are parents (especially new parents) of or have family/friends who are parent's of..."the Siberian Husky".The author starts off giving a nice outline with interesting details on the history of the Siberian Husky, then goes into a well rounded description & the characteristics of the Sibe. Other great topics include the responsabilities of: preparation (before choosing & bringing a husky home), feeding (choosing the right food, different types of foods, supplements & tips), grooming (maintenance & care), training (and behavior), health (care and concerns) and includes a great list of useful resources...and a training dvd.I haven't watched the training dvd yet, but the book is outstanding and covers the Siberian Husky and isn't all generic information for an average dog (like many books on specific breeds are, especially when it comes to the care and being a new owner). The writer definitely did their homework before putting this book together. Throughout the book are also colorful illustrations of several beautiful huskies.

It gives good information about the breed, and is about 150-160 pages. If you have a husky and want a guide for him/her, this is a good buy.

This is a good book, however I have read better husky books. Great history details. However I don't agree with everything in the book. I used a different approach to crate training by placing food bowl in crate and moving it back further and further for each feeding until puppy is used to crate and likes it. Lorie long say not to do this but it worked out great for us and it was recommended in another husky book that I found at petsmart. She also suggest changing dog food every 3-4 months and Ido t agree with this at all and neither does my vet. I think it's best to stick to one good brand that your dog really enjoys. Also, Lorie long has never owned a husky, so I don't think she should write a book on them. Would you read a book on babies by someone who has no children? Good general book for any do breed but not for huskies.

This book manages to pull of being both quite thorough, and a good (not great) coffee table book because of its multitude of full color pictures.2 and a half years ago I purchased this and "Siberian Huskies for Dummies" when I rescued a 10 month old Siberian Husky. Both book have their individual strengths, and a lot of overlap.This book did a better job of explaining how to train a Siberian Husky. Huskies are very strong minded and bore easily, so training is a MUST, and requires breed specific techniques.Just these 2 books contained everything I have needed for all life stages of my Siberian Huskies life. Your Siberian Husky will undoubtedly get into some sticky situations. With these books you'll always know the more prudent way to handle anything she/he throws your way.Compared to "Siberian Huskies for Dummies" this book was rather dry. "Siberian Huskies for Dummies" had me genuinely laughing out loud at certain points. This book will provide the raw information with minimal humor or light banter.

This is a great book with lots of insight into the inner wiring of a Siberian husky. We look at this book often and its helped a lot with some husky issues.

Helped me understand my German shepherd husky mix better

it gives you a brief history on the bread and where it came from. it also tell you how to start training them as well as some tips on grooming. well written and very informational, but was missing the DVD in the back.

Beautiful informative book. Pictures are lovely and there is a mine of knowledge between the pages. Excellent buy, and great customer service from the sellers.
