E4 TPR Series Zester Grater for Lemon/Citrus/Cheese with Cover

This kitchen gadget...my first "formal" zester...works just great to generate lemon, lime, and orange fine-textured citrus zests, my main purpose for buying it. Had seen something similar being used on the Food Network show "Chopped," and recently saw a newspaper food article that recommended always saving zests when preparing citrus fruit for other consumption. The high-flavor zests can be dried and/or frozen for all kinds of future uses in drinks, salads, pastas, desserts, etc. It takes just a bit of practice; handle is very well designed; to use a zester without also generating, ahem, finger-tip zest. It is very sharp, but, needs to be; and, the plastic cover handily allows it to hang safely with other kitchen implements. At any rate, the E4 TPR Series zester is a very fair purchase price for such a good...what I rate as professional...quality zester via amazon. It's a 5-star kitchen gadget for any serious home chef, indeed!

I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. I have tried it for zesting a lemon andalso for grating some ginger. It produces lovely zest and grated ginger!My only slight complaint is that it can be a little "sticky" on thelemon peel, sometimes just a little hard to get it started. Might be amatter of getting familiar with using it. But it is much better thanusing a cheese grater, which is what we were doing. And I appreciate that it comes with a cover for storage.

I must say this is much longer than I expected which means I need to read discriptions more closely. Sharp as sharp can be was grating cheese and the next thing I knew was my thumb slipped and a good portion of skin was grated right off. Bleed real good so other than a good scare had to do away with the food. I wish now that a guard of some kind came with it so it would be harder to slice my thumb. I have no doubt that it can grate anything you want if your careful.

The media could not be loaded. This rasp-style (long & skinny) zester/grater is very sturdy and well made, definitely a good buy. I like the nearly 8 inches of zester/grater blade and that it doesn't slip when using it, due to the rubber endpiece. Plus, the size of this zester's microplane blades is good - not too small - so that a) the resulting zest isn't too fine and likely to clump and b) it's easier to clean. Thankfully, they also provide a plastic guard to cover the blades when not in use. Size: 14-1/4"L x 1-1/2"W x 1/2"H (handle is 4-3/4"L x 1-1/4"W x 7/8"H)

The build quality of this zester is deceivingly nice. However, that's about the only thing nice about it. The blades are not sharp enough to grate much of anything, especially safely or in an easy manner. By the time I finished grating a small block of Parmesan cheese and zesting a lemon, my arm was unusually tired and I had nearly taken a chunk out of my finger several times. If you thought using a dull knife was dangerous, wait until you use a dull zester. You have to push very hard or take a 'running start' with the food to actually get this grater to cut. After the grater cuts into the food for a short amount, the food gets hung up on the very oddly shaped blades and your hand tends to slide straight to the grater.Stick with the brand name (microplane). I bought one after trying this one. It's a night and day difference for next to no more additional money. A properly sharp micro-plane will allow hard cheese, nutmeg, and fruits to slide over the micro-plane without any effort.I bought this based off other reviews, and I can't believe people think this product is acceptable.

I've tried using this over and over to zest citrus but it really doesn't work for me. Barely takes off any of the peel. It will grate cheese with ease. Had to buy another zester to do what this should have been able to do.

I received it a few days ago - it came so fast I couldn't believe it - andI used it the same day to grate some hard cheese. It worked wonderfullybecause it's so sharp. I plan to use it to grate nutmeg next week when Imake a cheese cake with pumpkin, and am sure it will be wonderful becauseof my experience with the cheese. The handle makes it really comfortableto hold, and the plastic sheath keeps those sharp edges from slicing up myfingers when I reach into the drawer. I have been wanting one of these forsome time and am so glad I waited until I could get yours delivered to mydoor! It's an outstanding produce, and the seller plus Amazon made thedelivery expeditious and non-eventful.

When I received the Zester Grater I grated some sharp cheddar with it. I desired really fine long shreds of cheese, which is exactly what this product delivered. The Z/G was longer than I expected it to be. This grater only cuts in one direction, towards the body, which makes it easy to use. I also found this product easy to clean, which was nice. I have only had this product a few days but it seems high quality.
