This was exactly what I was looking for... an informative home business primer to take my lifelong soap making hobby to the next level! I was just about to spend over $25 on a soap business book when I came across this ebook and decided to try it first. I am glad that I did. I have no prior business experience, but this book and the links contained have given me the confidence to take the plunge! Thank you Kaye!

As stated up front, Soap Making Business presumes readers are experienced in the craft of making soap. Therefore, there is no information as to making soap in a slack or large-scale basis. I see this as an opportunity lost, for, I would expect making such a distinction might help readers to evaluate how they could pursue their hobby as a business, if they so chose.Still, there are some good points discussed that would be helpful to insure people starting their first business do consider every foreseeable item. Yet, the author could have provided a couple of case studies to highlight a typical startup and two or three others that illustrate what did go wrong and how it was addressed. Failures teach more, often, than successes. Therefore, another opportunity was missed.There are few typographical errors in this 54-page booklet, but there seem to be formatting inconsistencies at about the last third of the book. That, combined with the author's decision to not place hyperlinks in the Table of Contents is a minor nuisance.Overall, I am giving the benefit of doubt to the author on rating Soap Making Business: How to Start Your Own Home Based Soap Business by Kaye Dennan 4 Stars. I would hope, however, the author will address my points above to create a much more useful book for people trying to turn their passion into a livelihood.

A very well written and very detailed book. The information was not geared toward the US but the information was excellent. I personally learned a lot. And will keep it so I can go back and reference it at any time. Thank you.

There is so much potential in these kinds of books. And this one just fell flat on every level. Speaking for myself, before I am going to invest in something like my very own business I will learn everything I can about it before I do so. This book mainly tells you what you should do, without actually telling you how to do any of it. I have many other books and even websites (which are free!) that really take the time to go into detail on things like parties, where to sell, examples of good places to buy from, how to sell online and many other topics! The only redeeming pages in this book all took place in the first twelve pages. After that is a bunch of things you either should already know, or should already be looking into of your own accord. I would not buy this book again, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone! Not when there are a plethora of better choices out there. So if you're looking for a checklist, then I guess this is for you. I hope others will get better use out of it than I did.

I really don't understand why this book has so many bad reviews. For me it was definitely awesome. Kate provides a lot of examples, additional resources, illustrations,where to sell your soap, pricing, what things you should avoid, what things are a must in this kind of business etc. I learned a lot and also enjoyed reading it.

A good book for the beginner, but should not be your only source. The Marketing section was probably the most informative (although there are books that focus on that aspect solely, so may cover more information).

My favorite hobby for the last few years has been making soap; recently have begun my own small business making and selling soap. This book is a great guide for beginners as it covers all of the safety steps and is overall informative. To find my soaps on YouTube or google search for"Self-Spa Soap"

I am not sure exactly what I was expecting when I bought this book but I expected more. I found it very vague and off the cuff. I didn't find it helpful at all.

THE ONLY DOWNFALL OF THIS BOOK WAS THAT IT WAS AMERICAN. THAT'S NOT TO SAY IT WASN'T INFORMATIVE IT WAS BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER AIMED AT THE BRITISH MARKET.BUT SAYING THAT IT WAS WORTH THE MONEY IT GIVES PLENTY OF TIPS HOW TO GENERATE MORE PROFIT AND GETTING CUSTOM AS WELL AS KEEPING THEM

Waste of time and money. You get more knowledge and practical advice watching YouTube.
