**Q: this vs compact camera**
A: D800E was designed for professionals and enthusiasts in mind. So the D800E is not on the same class as compact camera. If you just need  a camera for taking pictures at the picnics or flipping burgers in your backyard, a compact camera would do just fine.

**Q: Does this have a Built-in Wi-Fi?**
A: No built in wifi.

**Q: can the this camera work  hss 1/8000 off camera flash ?**
A: Do not use flash myself.

**Q: How large of an image can be produced from this body, in inches?**
A: The D800 /E will give you an image 7360 pixels wide.  A 240 DPI print (native size) will be about 31" wide.  How sharp these will look and how much you can enlarge beyond its native size will, of course, be determined by the glass you are using. A poor quality old, off-brand quantaray lens will still give you a poor image, no matter how great the camera you are attaching it to.  But I have actually gotten some fantastic poster quality images from the 13mm Rokinon f2.8 lens with the D800, and, of course, with Nikon lenses.
