Wonderful Dock for Augmenting Surface Pro 1 Use
I ordered this Universal Docking station for use with my Surface Pro 1. I'm an engineering college student who uses it heavily for all of my note taking and homework assignments, but wanted a more robust and complete docking solution for when I use the surface as a traditional "desktop" computer. I used a miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable for a while on a 22 inch monitor, but the lack of USB ports, microphone jack, and ethernet port left me feeling lacking.Enter the Warpia USB 3.0 Universal Docking station. For the price point ($70 at the time), it was an incredible buy. I'm currently running a 22 inch 1080p and 15 inch 1024x768 monitors alongside, of course, the Surface Pro 1's screen itself. Set up of the drivers and the dock itself was extremely fast and pain free. I really do feel like I have a robust desktop solution to round out the mobility and power of [even] the Surface Pro 1.The only downside is a limitation on the bandwidth of USB 3.0. While running two monitors, multiple USB peripherals, and audio out through the dock, I do notice some visual lag on the two monitors as I drag items or open/close/minimize/restore windows. Also, when copying/moving large files to and from the surface to a USB flash drive or external drive connected through the Warpia dock, audio currently playing may skip a little bit here and there. This is NOT a limitation on the Warpia dock, but rather on the bandwidth of the USB 3.0 technology itself. I assume whenever USB 4.0 arrives, the bandwidth issues may be resolved, but that is probably years in the future. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied, and it suits my needs incredibly well now that college textbooks are commonly found in eBook versions. I can have an eBook open on the 1024x768 monitor, my notes from class (Taken in Windows Journal) open on the 22" 1080p, and the Surface flat on the table in front of me while I rewrite notes or finish homework. This marrying of technologies really is a step forward in what may become common use technology for college students in 5-10 years.

This docking station has be great with my Macbook Pro
DOESNOT SUPPORT ULTRA WDIE MONITOR RESOLUTION or WINDOWS 10. This docking station has be great with my Macbook Pro. I recently got an LG Ultrawide Monitor and realized it does not support it. Good think the dock allow the original Macbook video card open which does allow it. Maybe this is why it's cheaper than other docks.

No issue with the Surface Pro 3 and windows 8.1. I downloaded the drivers before plugging the unit in. Plugged it in afterwards and it has worked as advertised. The usb mouse is a little jerky so I might go with a blue tooth mouse as an alternative. Copied directories between two external usb 3.0 drives and the C: drive without any issues. Using a single external monitor while I am trying to find a HDMI monitor or HDMI to DVI converter. Testing the unit to see if can replace my HP laptop here at work. It will work well on the road given that I did not have any trouble processing images with Lightroom. I might download Photoshop to see how that works with this combination. Update: it transferred 537 files representing 24 Gig of data both to the internal SSD drive and the other external drive under 7 minutes. I added a 2nd 24 inch monitor (HDMI TV) and using that and a DVI HP monitor did not resent any issues. It performed on par with the windows Surface Pro 3 docking station. I have no complaints with either the warpia or surface pro 3 docking stations. Works great.

Fully compatible with whatever I threw at it!
Updated Review (5/23/2020, note 6 YEARS LATER, have graduated college, now working as an engineer):Still works well, but with one major exception. There were major issues when I connected my work computer to my docking station to use my external monitor and ran AutoCAD2017/18 on it. My setup was not able to display it properly at all. I resorted to connecting my work laptop directly to the screen via HDMI. Other than that, my docking station still works well. Just seems to be unable to handle large applications with heavy graphics demands.Original Review (October 2, 2014):I love this thing. Fully compatible with anything I threw at it. My current setup is the only input is my laptop (USB 3.0 - yes, it's that convenient!), and outputs out of the docking station are an older flat screen monitor, a wired keyboard, a set of speakers, an optical mouse, my phone charger and my tablet charger. Handles it all like a champ. Perfect for my college student desk needs.

Better Than the One It Replaced, at Half the Price
This replaced an ASUS docking station, which was fried by a lightning hit. This one from Warpia is well built, sturdy, beefy. Simple instructions to install it, no problems. Automatically detected the right resolutions for my two external monitors. Sound also works well. Running this off my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop with 4GB running Windows 8.1. The PDF manual available through the Warpia web site is very well written and actually helpful for understanding technical details. For example, a computer needs 2GB RAM for one external monitor, and 4GB for two. My Lenovo has 4GB and Intel i5 processor. Streaming video works perfectly. It's very productive to have two external monitors and the laptop screen. Lots of space to have multiple windows and files open concurrently. This is an excellent product and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
