I love the color and style of the chairs. The metal back support piece however does not come up far enough so basically your back is testing on the thin metal frame which is quite uncomfortable if you are to really sit for more than 10 min,

First, the backstory: I ordered chairs from a different company first, which were awful - RestorHardw painted them grey instead of just finishing the metal, eek. So, I was leery of ordering chairs online again, but I definitely did not want to pay retail.Second, customer service: Since I was nervous about quality, I called DesignForm directly (if you google it, you'll find the website and phone #). The woman who answered the phone was helpful and very patient as I quizzed her on product quality and metal finishes for 5-10 minutes. I came back to Amazon to place the order because she told me it was cheaper than the prices on the website. Since I had called them, they knew I was about to place the order, so they said they would monitor their account closely so that they could ship the chairs the same day. I was given the owner's email address (without my asking!) for any issues or additional questions (and yes, he answered my emails).Third, the chairs: perfect. If you are familiar with Tolix chairs and all the various copies out there, you know that quality varies wildly. These chairs seem just as good as the Tolix ones I've seen (without, of course, the brand name stamped on the back). They are solid and sturdy, but not heavy. The gunmetal finish was exactly what I wanted. I think the color in person looks better than in the photo here -- the color in the photo here looks flat. Mine have more of a gloss finish, but not like chrome, just like a clear coat gloss.Other thoughts: these are technically not galvanized, although DesignForm does sell them. Galvanized metal is dipped in zinc and will last outside forever. It's a lighter, mottled color and often has a "dusty" feel. If you've ever seen/touched it, you know the difference. I, however, did not want galvanized -- I am not using them outside regularly and I like the dark, gloss look. I believe these are safe to use outside; however, you wouldn't want to leave them out in the rain regularly - they just aren't made for that kind of abuse.Also, check the measurements closely. These chairs are faithful to the original (vintage, European) design, so the seats are more petite and lower to the ground than what you might be used to. I knew this ahead of time (since I own a couple actual vintage ones), but if you aren't expecting it, it may feel "off." I have a handmade farmhouse table, and I think I'm just going to shave and inch or two off the legs. I'm only 5'3" and so I love them. My dad is 6' and he did not have a problem with them. But, as an example, these chairs were easily 2" lower than the RestorHardw ones.I am very, very happy with my chairs, and would definitely recommend this company.

Horribly made chairs and even worse customer service when you call into their California office. Do not waste your time with this cheaply made design. Take your money elsewhere. Thankfully we were given a full refund through amazon. We purchased these for my Grandma’s summer home and were surprised at the low quality. Thank you amazon for making it right.

the chair is much sturdier than i expected for the price. it looks great next to our wood dining room table. well made and stylish.

I ordered six of these chairs and I absolutely love them. They are great quality and look great. They are so similar to the Tolix chairs I used to dream about, but actually in my price range! My husband (who is a big guy) and I have no problem with the size - they are perfect. GET THESE CHAIRS! :)
