Has been helpful but also has some niggles.
I bought this for my daughter in year 6 (age 10). It starts with some basic grammar items eg what is a noun, and builds from there. Its was initially just revision but by the end of the book, it has some things that my daughter hasn't done in school. There is only 1 page on each grammar aspect covered - fine if it's revision but less good when it's new material. The book has made my daughter practice her handwriting, which has been a good aspect, however there are some aspects which are not helpful. First each page has a background of blue lines, presumably to look like it's printed on a school exercise book - but then the spaces that need to be filled in have a black line to indicate this, and those lines to not correspond with the blue lines, so sometimes my daughter was making small letters to fit between a black and a blue line.I also found that some of the grammar aspects are not strictly correct. I certainly don't expect a sentence to start with the word 'but', as I thought that 'but' was a conjunction. The page on prefixes gives a way of understanding the meaning of words but only one of the examples used is a true prefix ie something you put in front of an existing word, rather than just the meaning of the first half of a word.Overall the book has been helpful and is reasonably priced.
