EDITED REVIEW
I could go on & on about the differences with my first "portable" computer, A Kaypro 4 (Google it) and the GPD Pocket 2 and yes, the differences are nothing short of amazing!Initially, I was a bit disappointed. The "Optical Navigation Device" on the first unit was not working. While not totally disabling the computer, it took away one of the GPD's great features. I ordered a replacement.Interestingly, the GPD tech department sent along detailed pictures of the ribbon wire connecting their optical "mouse" and suggested I might diagnose the problem and make the repair myself! I liked that idea, that this was something I could sucessfully diagnose and repair with their assistance. All too often manufacturers send us sealed cases of their tech we never really "own" unless we're willing to forego the protection their warranties offer. GPD tech attitude seemed to be "Sure, go for it!" BRAVO GPD!The replacement came swiftly (THANK YOU LENVEE!) and is operating well, the "mouse" takes a bit of getting used to but it makes a HUGE difference navigating the screen. After reading other reviews, I was a expecting to hear a loud cooling fan. So far it's been quiet enough I have to feel the vent ot be sure it is actually operating. (it is)The keypad is large enough & well laid out with a good feel to it. Like any new machine it does take some getting used to. The screen is bright and useable but being a touch screen is a mixed blessing. It can get a bit messy if used a extensively as a "tablet" device. The hinge is tight and it does take a bit of effort to open up but I haven't found it to be an issue. I am finding this device a bit too small to fit on my lap by itself, my main concern is covering the cooling vents. I usually put mine on a clipboard when it's on my lap to ensure ventilation.Overall build quality looks great! This computer appears to be extremely well made. Now on to the OS...O.K. it's a Windough$-based machine. As you might guess I'm not really a big fan of that particular OS. I needed a Windough$ based computer for a specific purpose, once that task is completed? I'll likely install a Linux OS on my GPD Pocket 2.To sum up;Amazon Customer Service was extremely helpful processing the return.GPD's attitude about end-users digging in to their devices is unheard of. It tells me I actually "own" this piece of tech! For what you're getting? Yeah... Maybe a little pricey. But it's so cute! (And capable!)

Best camping laptop ever
I bought this for camping and I absolutely love it. It recharges via a 5V USB so any solar charger with USB will work to recharge it. I can't comment on Windows 10 performance as I immediately put Linux on it but Ubuntu works flawlessly and boots up in around ten seconds give or take. It fits perfectly in my pocket too so that's a huge bonus for someone who travels a lot. The battery life is very good for a laptop. Ranging from three hours if you are gaming to 10 hours for watching youtube videos. Some people have complained that the fan is "noisy" but even when it's running hot, I barely hear it.I'm usually pretty picky about electronics but I don't really have any complaints on this one. There are two things that would have been nice to have but given the size of the laptop, I understand why it's that way. It feels very well built and reminds me of the old Nintendo-Quality of handhelds that felt pretty indestructible in your hands. It has no speakers so you have to use headphones if you want audio. Given the small size of the laptop, you couldn't feasibly put decent quality speakers on it so perhaps that's for the best. The keyboard layout is squished to fit the laptop size so it takes a little while to get used to where all the special symbols are on the keyboard.

Real machine in pocket size
Very solid Windows machine, which I use for number crunching of gigabyte datasets in R and a bunch of spreadsheets. Most of the reviews about issues with power, bios etc are out of date - everything work fine out of the box. Optical mouse button works very well when you get used to it, and it is accompanied by right and left click buttons on the top panel. If you are not a touch typist the keyboard is just a fast a a regular one, and the keys have a good action. Whether you are comfortable looking at an HD res screen in 7 inches is up to you. I'm short sighted so it is perfectly fine. Goes with me wherever I go, and is built like a (light) tank!

Batter issue
The overall product is nice but i had an issue with my battery after 1 week of purchase. The battery seems to be dead and doesn’t work unless it’s plugged in. This is not ideal at all for the purpose of having a pocket size laptop. I tried contacting the company several times with no response.
