Rachael Carson is an American hero, this is a must read if you want to live safely and securely on out planet. She was ahead of us all! Her vision, presented in a quiet, intelligible, rational manner commands your attention. A brave concerned author, a beautiful writer and a landmark study of "the sea around us."Magnificent.

Maybe the first, and still perhaps the best science bestseller. The book begins with the encompassing "mother sea" that once covered the whole earth, and from which the first forms of life evolved in a captivating fashion.
