Kcpi Dt504 Digital Tv Converter Box

I overpaid for this at Best Buy but I'm quite happy with the unit nonetheless. I recently bought the Zinwell ZAT-970A as a second box after reading the good (4 star average) reviews for that unit compared to the 2.5 star average review for this one. This goes to show that one should take user reviews with a grain of salt. The on-screen interface of this box and the Zinwell seem to be identical (so the guts probably originate from the same factory), but the display is clearer on this one and the channels seems to change more quickly. I feel like the construction quality of this unit is *slightly* higher than that of the Zinwell, too.I don't give this one five stars because the buttons on the remote occasionally need to be pressed quite firmly to get a response out of it.~Justine

This digital HDTV converter box has standard RCA plug audio/video outputs as well as an S-Video output. Input for a smart antenna as well as the standard coaxial input/output RF connectors. There are no other buttons than a power switch, so you must have the functioning remote. There is no method to mannualy add missed channels after auto-scan. The box states "Analog Pass Through", but since it needs a different antenna to pickup the old analog signals, I don't see how it could possible work without antenna switching. Paperwork also states that the unit needs to be powered off for pass-thru option. At this point, the pass-thru doesn't work for me.

This product was well worth the low price!! It did the basic job of converting my old TV into digital TV. I bought an RCA indoor antenna to connect for $19.99 and I receive a total of 37 VERY Clear channels. The only reason I give this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because the remote control is poor quality. It's lightweight, flimsy, and sometimes you have to push the buttons several times to change channels.

These have pretty good features - but they seem to be fairly poorly made - so you have to buy two or three of them at a time. They have "on-screen" information about shows - and you can select the channels you want it go turn to. Others which are sold DON'T do this... so they're sort of worthless for taping shows.

this product has not worked for any lenght of time an d just goes blank. and nothing can be done about it. in tryin to exchangeit i ran across product reviews i found this is normal with this converter. I also contacted the distributer and manufacturer and followed their mtroubleshooting proceedure and was told this box is defective. as i stated before that is common with this box . I have asked the distributer to overnight my replacement and no decision has been made. Due to the high volume of defective converter boxes from KCPI i feel m that amazon should stop handeling this product to perserve contverter boxes to protectits customer base and not sell inferior products.i am available for more coments if

This is the second one of these I've bought. I discovered that using an HD antenna and this Converter Box I get 22 channels instead of the 4 I would normally get without it. So I put up another antenna, for the house this time the other being on the gazebo, told DISH to take a hike and now have 22 local stations in the house as well. The reception is far better than with satellite so I'm one happy camper.

The only weird thing was that it had stations already listed with channels, my father in-law told me that's because someone sent it back and then I got it. Makes sense. I was hoping it was new, but it seems to work fine, had it for a few weeks now. When you first get it do a signal search, I just plugged in the channel that I knew we could receive and it wouldn't show up, after the channel search it came in fine.

I expected a few clear channels. I already have an old converter box on another old TV. It works OK. This converter box, to my surprise and delight, gave me alot of clear channels- channels that I am interested in. I'm satisfied.
