Detox that gets 'to the point'
This is a great, compact, easy to follow detox plan with pre/during/post instructions, cards and DVD. The laminated hand size cards are easy to read and durable. Dr. Hyman makes this a seemingly effortless way to complete a detox program in 7, 10, or 21 days...the reader determines the length of the program. Before you start, read through everything, watch the DVD, and make sure you have the "groceries" in your kitchen before you begin. You will be feeling energized and "clean" in days!

Disorganized, difficult to make sense
I was looking forward to reading it, but I am very disappointed with the lack of organization. It's not a book, it's just cards, and after going through them twice, I still don't know what vitamins I should buy. I will return it, and keep his cooking book instead.

Love it, modified it
I started this program with the intent of losing weight and changing my eating habits. I have really enjoyed it. I did the first 10 days exactly as told and added 20 minutes of exercise a day. I went off of the program for two months and although I slide back into my bad eating habits I only gained 1 pound back. I decided that I really did want to change eating habits and started the program again, however I modified it alittle bit: I follow the program as outline until dinner. At dinner I just eat a sensible dinner and I avoid sugar and deep-fried stuff (the major modifications that I want to make in my diet for life). I also am exercising for 45 minutes a day. I am on day 8 of this modified version and I have found that with the original way I lost about 1.25 lbs a day. With my modified version I am losing about .75 pounds a day- but I am eating my dinner how I want to eat in the future so I hope that I am able to form good habits.I feel great. I haven't had this much energy since I was 50 lbs. lighter.

Committment and Fortitude Required
I've been doing research on cleansing and detox programs for a few years now. My husband and I were going to try The Master Cleanse and I even purchased the materials, but never did it. Then, a friend recently did a detox and I also read where Meredith Vieira (co-anchor on NBC's Today show) was doing one... AND then just last week I got laid off from my job (totally unexpected). The stars were aligned and I decided it was the best time to start a detox... so I decided on The Detox Box. I selected it since I had heard (and read) a number of good things about it (it was the one that my friend was doing). My husband was traveling during week #1 of the detox, which was very helpful (he's a processed food lover and having him around would have made that first week very hard). So far, I've made it through the first week (not without a few pitfalls - I needed to do the yoga consistently and move around more but will do that in week #2... we were also invited to our friends' resort vacation home toward the end of week #1, and it's been tricky to follow the meal plan, when everyone around you is encouraging you to drink wine and eat non-listed foods with them!). Still, I feel very calm, not a bit anxious (job? schmob!); my circulation is outstanding (my hands and fingertips are actually WARM again), my skin is positively RADIANT and I don't miss the caffeine (I was drinking alot of it and went cold-turkey, though TDB recommends a "before" phase where you gradually wean yourself down. So far, I haven't had any major headaches). I plan to continue the program for another week (or two) since I'm in a groove now (despite the pitfalls) and know I can refine my commitment for the remaining weeks. While I agree with some of the other reviewers that the ingredients can be expensive, I also agree it's a small price to pay to significantly improve your health - both body AND mind. I'm sure I would pay significantly more if I visited a spa or consulted with a naturopath. You can easily do this program on your own. Even though the individual flashcards seem like an awkward way to present the material (why not put it in a bound book that can be indexed and then referenced?) I still HIGHLY recommend this program.

Put me down the right path.
I felt great after doing Mark Hyman's detox box and I would recommend it to everyone. I can't say that I'm still a huge fan of the brown rice and "good carb" mentality that is proposed in this system but overall if you stick to it you will definitely lose weight and feel healthier. At the present time, I would have to recommend Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint program over this.I really enjoyed the regimented nature of the system and that I only had to follow the instructions to succeed. It wasn't that difficult getting everything together and while some of the metagenics stuff is expensive; I never mind the cost when it comes to taking care of my body.Niels Dragsbaek

Hard to stay on program
This might work for others but it was too complicated and hard for us to follow. Nice looking box and cards.

valid and reliable Doc
I have not used the product as of yet. I have purchased all of the materials and plan to do the cleans when I am in more stable health. The products suggested are all of high quality and the instructions extremely clear and concise. Background biographical data on the designing M.D. is informative and you can get more information on him at [...] The cleans utilizes many age old remedies and treatments to cleans the body and no far-out untested approaches. The opportunity to do short treatments and long-terms applications of the cleans protocol are delineated in the informational packet. Excellent product from a reliable and valid source.
