Digital Stream Analog Pass-Through DTV Converter Box

At first my tv wouldn’t turn to channel 4, but I was able to reach it by pressing 4 on the remote. I wanted to have one of these for an emergency. He battery was dead, but the remote worked fine when I used some of my own AAA. No complaints. Glad to still be able to find a converter box in 2022.

I needed it to watch my flat screened TV.

If you still have an old analog TV that you want to use, you can either get cable, or you have to get a converter box like this. A lot of people used to make these things right around the analog/digital TV change. But now it has been a few years, and most people have either upgraded to a HDTV or already have a box like this. So not many people make these very simple converter boxes anymore, and there seem to be basically two versions now. This one or one of many different clones that have different names on them, but all seem to use the same rather sketchy software and hardware. If you look closely when researching them, you can tell that they are all the same because they have the same interface.I tried one of the sketchy boxes first - they all let you plug in a USB drive to record shows on. Basically look for a USB port on the front or the back, and they are all the same. Like a lot of other people, I had problems with the one I bought and ultimately sent it back. So I got this one instead. It doesn't have a built in recorder, but in every other way it seems much better.The instructions are better, the interface is better designed and more straightforward, and it comes with a universal remote. I plugged in one of those indoor HDTV antennas and it seemed to do a reasonably good job picking up the local stations in my area. I also have an HDTV with an integrated tuner and with a similar antenna it caught a few more channels, but I got all the ones I expected to get with this box.I am going to get another one, to bring another old TV I have back to life. If you don't need cable, don't pay for it.

This is the third converter box i have bought in three months; no question I have had crappy luck finding one that works. One wouldn't let me access any channels between 22 and 26, and when I tried, it would freeze up and reset. The next one worked fine, but had a brightness/color issue. All the people had bright red skin, as if they'd been on a three-day drunk.Digital Stream is doing OK. It set up fairly easily. Picture is clear, colors are appropriate. Don't have to turn the sound way, way up, like one of the aforementioned losers. I got all the channels that I'm used to getting.My only complaint and why I docked them a star: Three times the dumb thing has just randomly shut off, for no reason I can see. But when I turn it back on it stays on. Why? Who knows? The converter boxes I used to have worked without a hitch for four years, and then died within three months of each other. Since then, finding one that doesn't give me some kind of trouble is like Dreaming The Impossible Dream. When this one dies, I'll probably quit @#$%ing around and get an HD TV.

No other converter can come close to the Digital Stream. I even put them on my digital TV's because of the TV Guide that tells you of a lot of upcoming programs and it also helps a bit in pulling in stations stronger.too and has a signal meter to check the strength. Another feature is it has an update program where you can scan for TV stations and keep all the other stations that you have and do not have to start all over again each time you scan for new stations. Of course you can also do a NEW scan too and start Fresh if you want to.On the UPDATE you can turn your antenna in all the different directions that you want to scan and stop there on each direction then scan for updated channels and keep the channels you already have without loosing any channels you have in the system.No more turning the antenna and scanning at the same time and guessing if you got all the channels in that direction or not.This is a GREAT product and I have them on all my TV's,even the new flat screens that already has some of these features but they do not work as well as the Digital Stream features. I will not be without these.

Purchased this product in July. Stated it was new. Received product but not the confirmation receipt. After the first couple weeks started having problems with power on/off. Sometimes would work for a week or 2 but now has completely failed. Product manual said it had a 6 mo. warranty. So called the number provided. This company no longer exists. Paid $79.98 + tax, total $87.48. Is their a replacement product? Or refund me the total cost. Very dissatisfied and frustrated Any assistance you can provide to help me resolve this will be appreciated.

This is a good value for the cost. I was a little afraid after I received it that it wouldn't work with my aerial which is not an outside aerial that the information I received said was necessary. My aerial sits in my window, and fortunately, it works just fine with this converter. Set-up was easy, which as a non-techie person I greatly appreciated. The channels that come in, come in nice and clear. And this converter box brings in more channels than my last one did. In general, I am quite pleased with this converter box. I am withholding 1 star because:1. I don't know how to scan channels with the remote, and2. I am not sure how long this converter box will last. The last converter box I bought, a different brand, only lasted three months. I'm hoping this one will do considerably better.
