Rogue FlashBenders ROGUERELG Large Positionable Reflector

I got this mainly for Macro work to use with my 430ex and OCF cord. I'm pretty happy with the results so far. The Flashbender is built well and works as described. The bend-y pieces inside the material seem like they'll last a long time. It folds in half lenghtwise without bending the bend-y parts so it fits in my camera bag well. As others have said, it is a bit heavy for some speedlights. On my 430ex if I point the flash head 45 degrees up there's a good chance the flash head will fall to horizontal. This isn't really a big issue because you can just point the flash straight up and bend the flashbender.This is the best portable light modifier I've used and it's not terribly expensive. I've taken a few shots of my daughter and it helps soften the light quite a bit. Not as good as bouncing, but it works well when that's not an option.I've done a little bit of macro work with my 100mm 2.8 1:1 and this works well if you can get your flash off camera. You won't get that "ring light" look but it works well. In relation to your macro subject this makes a pretty big light source so the light is soft.

2018 UPDATE AT BOTTOMJust got my Large Rogue Flashbender. Awesome! I had been saving up for a Gary Fong Whaletail (hatches and reflectors and gels, oh my!). Then I discovered this at a third of the price. The Rogue FlashBender is a true winner because:* No instructions required (or included). Just stretch the velcro belt around your flash and it's mounted, then start experimenting with how to bend the reflector and position your flash.* Great wrap-around flash fill effect. You'll bend the top of the reflector differently depending on the proximity and color of the ceiling, but I was immediately able to get truly great flash-wrapped product shots and portraits* Works perfectly with a Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash. The flash had no problem supporting the weight.My two applications are "portraits on the go" and product shots, both with a single flash. This is all I need for both. Five stars.2018 UPDATE:If you have the arm strength to shoot with one hand and hold the flash out to the side with the other hand, then this reflector is all you need for awesome on-the-go portraits and group shots. The key is to get the flash as far as possible from the camera! I use the a flash extender cord like Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS - 3' (1 m) because my camera won't control the flash remotely, and I don't want ANOTHER battery to charge. The cable just works.The challenge: After a few minutes, your arms will be tired from holding all the weight. It's like getting paid to work out!We had about two minutes (literally) before the sun set to catch the attached photo. Came out great (if Amazon doesn't munge it...). Anyhow, this FlashBender, along with a tripod and a high-end Speedlite (580EX II in my case) have been the my most used accessories for years.

Works well but a bit bulky even on the large Canon EX 600-RT speedlites ... it works as advertised providing great diffused/bounce light ... even the light throw is very good with the flash bender pointed forward ... but it is a bit too bulky even on a Canon 600 EX-RT mounted on a Canon 5D MK III and tends to tilt the flash head with moderate shake. Bought it 2 years ago, but I haven't used it in the last 9 months are so, due to its bulk which tilts the flash head ... on hind sight I'd have gone for one size smaller ... however, the material and the quality of the product are top notch.

This differs from a softbox-type attachment in that light is reflected, and not diffused through a screen. The reflective material bounces a fair amount of light forward, towards your subject, yet allows light to radiate out in all directions as well, so you have more even coverage.The most common configuration I've seen for the large reflector is with the top 2-3 inches curled down about 20 degrees. This ensures that the reflective material "catches" more of the light and directs it forward, while still allowing light to escape out the top and fill the room. Even better, if you want a little more light on the left side of the shot, rather than rotating the flash, you can just reach up and bend the panel around slightly to reshape the distribution of light.I said earlier that this is a good option for the studio photographer who is forced to do on-camera flash for whatever reason, but it's come in handy for a few posed studio-style shoots as well, especially when time and space is limited. Typically for a portrait session, I'll use a softbox as a key light, then an umbrella or reflector(s) for fill. In a typical household room with walls and a ceiling, this set up to either side of the camera will provide enough direct + fill light to keep the shot from looking like an interrogation.So that's my review. I like the Rogue FlashBenders because they can be used in literally every situation, and as long as you're confident enough to walk around with a big huge thingy hanging off of your flash, you'll have the equipment handy for whatever comes up.

Un seul regret: de ne pas l'avoir acheté plus tôt. Accessoire pratique finalement peu encombrant, il fait ce qu'il promet, à savoir adoucit la lumière du flash et les ombres portées, mais surtout agrandi l'angle d'éclairage du sujet Fini les images dont le centre est bien éclairé et estompé sur les bords, évidement pas autant qu'une boîte à lumière mais moins encombrant , on peut le glisser plié dans son sac. Cerise sur le gâteau on peut le plier en un cylindre pour diriger le faisceau sur les yeux par exemple.Matériel solide bien construit, apparemment construit en Chine sous License américaine.

I bought my Canon speedlite 430 EX II, I realised that direct light wasn't what I wanted.So you either do without the flash or bounce the light on a wall or ceiling.Then I get the flashbender, which is easy to install, so I don't need to bounce the light off walls or the ceiling. Indirect light is pointed towards my subject wherever I point.As a snoot (you fold it in a cylinder and a tunnel of light is sent towards your subject), you can pinpoint more light where you want it instead of washing the whole scene with light.Only problem I've seen is that my Canon speedlight has a metallic foot but with my flashbender as a snoot pointing foreward, it falls over from the extra weight. Setting the flash firmly on the ground or set up on a tripod solves the problem.Part of the attachment involves a snap button and a velcro piece, so you have two ways of taking it off you flash. First thought was "argh, velcro" but then realised that if it gets worn out or comes undone, this thing is well built and can easily be repaired.I still haven't bounced the light on the dark side yet, but that's one of many more tests I'll be trying with this thing. I'm glad to have this in my kit. It gives you options if you only have one flash to work with.That's it for me, happy hunting.

So zum Beispiel bei der Hochzeits- und Eventfotografie. Nebenbei erzielt der Flashbender auch deutliche Verbesserungen in der Portrait- und Haustierfotografie gegenüber Blitzen ohne Lichtformer, wobei er in diesem Bereich Softboxen und Lichtschirmen häufig allein durch den Größenunterschied unterlegen ist.Ich persönlich setze den Flashbender aber in der Makrofotografie ein. Dort arbeitet das Verhältnis zwischen Motiv und Fläche des Flashbenders deutlich zu dessen Gunsten. Hier wäre eine kleine Softbox schon viel zu groß und würde das Licht unkontrollierbar machen. Mit dem Flashbender lässt sich das Blitzlicht sehr gut auf die kleinen Motive lenken ohne den Hintergrund ungewollt aufzuhellen.Fazit: Der Flashbender ist mit Ausnahme der Landschaftsfotografie überall einsetzbar. Im Bereich Makro- und Produktfotografie sowie in der Hochzeits- und Eventfotografie kann er sich gegenüber anderen Lichtformern durchsetzen. In allen anderen Bereichen der Fotografie gibt es sicherlich bessere Lichtformer, die dann aber deutlich mehr kosten und die nur speziell benutzt werden können. Hier kann der Flashbender als günstiger Einstieg benutzt werden, um zu testen welche Art Lichtformer man benötigt. Dann wird er aber nicht nutzlos sondern immer mal wieder als Geheimtipp in besonderen Situationen dem Foto den letzten Schliff verleihen können.

Si buscais un difusor de flash para sitios como iglesias o discotecas este el indicado, es cierto que el aspecto no es el mas estético y la gente a veces mira raro pero aumenta el tamaño de la fuente de luz de forma considerable dando una iluminación mas suave y facilmente dirigible para mi es el difusor portatil perfecto.Se lo recomiendo a todo el mundo no le veo inconvenientes la verdad, probadocon metz 58 af1 y con canon 430 ex II
