Barely an appetizer...
Don't get me wrong, I like Mackenzie Lee.I do love her characters Monty and Percy and was hoping for quite a bit more. This little (and by little I mean very, very short) book is passed off as a novella. It truly isn't.If you count the 17 blank sheets the book clocks in under 100 pages and I think it would be generous to say that it's even 10,000 words total. There is the fun banter and hopeless inner monologue of poor Monty as he attempts to face the approaching move to London with Percy. Same ol, same ol.And really, that's where the problems arise. This novella, which would be more accurately described as a short story, lacks one thing...a plot. Further, it takes place during the weeks between the other two novels, so we already know what the outcome will be.Is it worth the $10 price tag? Nope, sorry. This seems like a bit of a money grab by our dear Miss Lee. It isn't so much a story as it is an addendum. A cup of weak tea that possibly was edited out of the first book and resurrected and foisted on an unsuspecting fanbase. It isn't a story if nothing happens...and truly nothing happens in this. There isn't even one new character introduced.Perhaps in writing about so many pirates, Mackenzie Lee has actually become one...because I feel a bit robbed.

To read if you’re a fan of Percy and Monty!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love The Gentleman guide’s serie of books and I was dying to read this one!Yes it’s short and there’s no real suspens since it’s between the 2 books that were already published but that’s not the point of this story. The point is the “but what happened just after the end of the 1st book? What happened after they confessed their love and finally kissed?”I love that we see Monty’s doubts about this situation. Monty is a very dear character to me and I love seeing him evolved all along those 3 books! And gosh I can’t wait for the next book! The conversation about Monty and Percy’s sex life with Felicity is hilarious and a great opening for this short story!I recommend to anyone who swooned over Percy and Monty’s story and wants a tiny bit more. As long as you keep in mind that it’s short and that Mackenzi wrote this more for herself than for publication at first, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And having Christian Coulson back for the Audible version is such a treat!!!! He’s honestly amazing!

Give me all the Monty and Percy!
Audible Review:Overall 5 out of 5 starsPerformance 5 out of 5 starsStory 5 out of 5 starsSo much love for Monty and Percy!I would seriously listen to anything having to do with Monty and Percy, the length of the story would make no difference, I love them that much! This was short but oh so sweet! It left me wanting more, more, more- I'm pretty sure I'd think that no matter what. They are just the cutest boys and I adore them! This story had me laughing out loud, but then getting all up in my feels a minute later. Monty was so unsure of himself, it was adorable and frustrating all at once.Christian Coulson narration is perfection. I'm pretty sure I said that when I reviewed TGGtV&V, but it's true. He does such a fantastic job bringing Monty, and Percy, and all the other characters, to life. It's such a wonderful experience listening to his performance.

Nailing the Emotions of Intimacy!
I love love loved this exploration into Percy and Monty getting intimate for the first time. Lee just perfectly nails (oh, that pun was honestly not intended) the complicated emotions that go along with having sex with a partner, what it means when one person has experience and the other doesn't, and how loving the person you're with changes everything. And per usual, Felicity had me literally LOLing.

Satisfying!
I got this little book because I absolutely had to read how the characters got along after their big misadventure. I don't know if it's worth the entire price I paid for so few words, but I guess if you're hooked your hooked.

Short but delightful
If you enjoyed A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, you owe itself to read this short piece. It’s sweet, tender, hilarious, and just a bit naughty.

Charming and Surprisingly Calming
Romantic and encouraging that not everything has to be and usually won’t be perfect so just go with the flow and enjoy the experience of life and falling in love. Can’t wait for the next full novel in the series beyond this more playful, conveniently short, useful interlude in the overall story that picks up where Percy and Monty left in the previous book. Enjoy reading it.

Funny
I love these two two together. Funny read about their first time attempts.

Wonderful, if little more than a vignette
As much as I enjoyed this extra time in the company of Monty and Percy, calling it a novella - and pricing it like any other book - is a bit much when it only took me an hour to read it. It's as beautifully produced as it is written, but being bulked up with illustrations and a very generous font size doesn't disguise the slimness of the tome, even in hardback. The story itself is sweetly told, with Mackenzi Lee impressing once again for her deft touch, which makes you love all the characters in spite of their faults - and overlook how obviously transplanted the prevailing attitudes are.A welcome addition to the overall story in any case, but cynically speaking more marketing gap-filler than something that needed to exist as a standalone volume.

These precious chaotic darlings own my heart
This made my heart ache with how well Monty's PTSD is handled and how beautiful his love for Percy is as a catalyst for change in his life. I love these characters so much and this was well worth waiting for.
