A classic and a must have for tarot collectors
The Robin Wood Tarot is a more than a redressing of the Rider Tarot into the pagan tradition. It's one of those classic decks that deserves at least a second look, and should not be avoided by tarot collectors. The back of these cards are decorated with a celtic knot work in white and green over a black background. These cards are bordered white, most of the time numbered and labeled at the bottom. The imagery in these cards is realistic, but a bit cartoony at times. Also, beware that a few of these cards show nudity, but this is done tastefully. The Major Arcana are mostly numbered and labeled at the bottom, often within a scroll. The imagery in these cards follows a more pagan tradition. For example, usually in many pagan/celtic oriented tarots, the devil is replaced with chains. This tarot is no exception, where the standard imagery has been replaced with two naked people pulling a chained treasure toward the end of a tunnel. In a twist, the chains form an upside-down pentagram. The pips in the Minor Arcana are numbered at the bottom within a white circle. These cards integrate the standard imagery of swords, wands, cups or pentacles, but include no label as none is needed. The court cards follow the standard labels of knave, knight, queen, or king also at the bottom.I recommend for beginners that favor Pagan over Christian imagery; and without a doubt, this is a must have for tarot collectors. These cards come in a box which opens at the side like a chest, and includes a little white book.
