Dad had purchased one and liked it so much that he bought one for me and kept one in his lake cabin as well as his apartment in town. When I first got it I rolled my eyes thinking that he had fallen for another gimmick. But I could not have been more wrong. I plugged it in and it was silent. I thought it wasn't even working. But I was wrong. The next time I walked into that basement room, there was something noticeably different. The air smelled great. Not stuffy. It smelled like the air after a rainfall! A few weeks later I noticed a slight buzzing sound coming from the Ionicbreeze and investigated, read the instructions, cleaned it accordingly; wiping away the black residue it had collected on it's blades with a damp paper towel and drying them. I also cleaned the wire by sliding the bar up and down a few times. The whole process took a minute or two. Then I turned it over and gently shook it a little and a few tiny dust particles fell from the vents. I repositioned the blades and viola. No purchasing of filters, no struggling, no mess. This machine is an electric miracle! It cleaned the air without even roping me into an eternal cycle of buying more filters! Jump ahead 5 years... I had let a friend borrow my ionic breeze for a few days... and this person moved to another town with it. I asked for it back, but realized that she needed it more than I did (enough said). When I tried to buy another, Sharper Image no longer existed but another company had a similar product. I bought one. Evion had the same technology and although the Ionicbreeze worked faster, the Evion product works just fine with the same effect, and I don't have to clean it as ofter. I have purchased one for each of my grown children who have families of their own. They in turn have purchased more for different areas of their home. We have one on every floor of our home. We never get a musty smell, we stay healthy, and we love this product. Do not waste money on filters. They don't come close to making the difference that the Ionized air does. Give it time to work... You will love it too.

I was looking for another air filter because I have guests with allergies, so I went to buy another one of the same. I have to units like this one, I bought the first one at Walmart, and the second on Amazon. I've had them both for over six years and they are still working fine. And it's been six years without buying a single filter. Now, you need to wash the blades from time to time by hand, and they take a long time to dry (the manufacturer recommends to wait 24 hours). I do as much drying as I can with a soft cloth and shake it well, and a few hours seem to do the trick. I wanted to buy replacement blades, so I don't have to wait, but couldn't find them anywhere. Still, after six years they are not as shiny, but seem to work as well. Then it has this wire in the back which you are supposed to clear just pulling a wand in and out. That never seemed to work well. I just pass my fingertips over it covered with some fort clear cloth, and that works great. When there is debris on the wire, it makes a very strong and annoying noise, but wiping the wire (no water!) does the trick. It is completely silent, and only if you get really close to it you will feel a soft breeze coming out of it. How do I know it's working? The blades get really dirty, that shows that it is catching a lot of stuff. Bot most importantly, it ended my morning sinus headaches. Worth the money. Please, note: I also bought a smaller unit for my office at work, and works the same, but the blades don't get remotely as dirty. While at home I have carpet and three cats, and my family is not exactly diligent about cleaning, my office has tile flooring and gets cleaned regularly, which I think is the reason some reviewers didn't see much of a result. The filter is not miraculous, and gets dust on all its surfaces. It won't make dusting unnecessary, but it improves the quality of the air.

I love this thing.. I have had several of these things.. They do wear out, but takes a long time.. I have two of them now.. They work great.. Having said that, the biggest complaint I have heard is that they make noise, they shut off when they should not, etc.. I went through all that years ago.. So I understand how unhappy people can be with this product.. So, why do I like mine so much when other people almost hate theirs???? I learned how to clean them.. The people who sell them do not give you instructions for the proper cleaning of these units.. The secret is rubbing alcohol. I am not sure the instructions I wrote for cleaning this thing is still on Amazon or not, but if not, here is a short version. When the red light comes on, or the machine starts making the cracking zapping noise, unplug it. Take the blades out, grab a few paper towels and a bottle of plain ole rubbing alcohol.. Soak the paper towel in alcohol, or at least put a lot on it so that it is very wet, then wipe the blades down.. Lots of crap will come off the blades.. Keep doing this until the blades are clean. Then wipe with dry towels.. Then, let the blades sit for a half hour or so and dry out.. You want them really dry... Second step is to clean the wire in the back of the unit.. It is hard to get to.. I advise people to wrap a paper towel around a toothbrush handle, or similar, attach with a rubber band, get the towel very wet with alcohol, then wipe the wire up and down with the wet towel.. Then let this dry for one half hour, or until you are sure it is dry.. REASSEMBLE and turn it on.. It should work like a charm. If it does not, then you did not get it clean.. Repeat the process until it is working properly.. Went it is working as it should, it does a great job of pulling dirty stuff out of the air.. I mean a lot of dirty stuff..... Ok, get one, keep it clean, and be happy.. Better yet, get more than one!

9 Month Update - Upgrade 4 Stars This is a 3 star product with 5 star customer service. After about four months from purchase my original Envion stopped working all together. The light would go on but the collection grid would collect nothing at all (not even a single mote of dust.) I called Envion customer service and they sent me a replacement. It seems I just got a dud the first time because the new filter works pretty well (still not as good as a Sharper Image though.) It's great to find a company that stands behind their product and made things right! 3 Month Update - Downgrade 2 Stars Don't expect this to work as well as a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze. The Envion removes about 80% less dust than the SI did between cleanings. Overall very disappointed. I bought this to replace a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Quadra. Works under same concept (i.e. ionizing wires and a washable collection grid). The Envion is just as quiet and creates the same clean smell but doesn't seem to pull as much junk out of the air. I clean the collection grid weekly and the SI would have triple the amount of dust and junk on it than the Envion does. The collection grid on the Envion is several inches shorter than the SI so maybe that's why? The pull mechanism on the Envion to clean the ionizing wires is a nice upgrade though. This beats having to turn the unit upside down and shake (like the old SI.) All said, it works okay and it's about 1/3 the cost of the old SI product which is nice.

Took a chance and bought two of these because the 3 blade element looked identical to the element in my previous ionic air cleaner by Sharper Image. We have a very dusty house, 2700 sq ft and one is upstairs in master bedroom and one is down in family room. You can feel the air flow when you turn it on high, however, I feel like the Sharper Image unit pulled a lot more dust out of the air and definitely had to be cleaned much more often (weekly, as opposed to 3 or 4 weeks for this unit). That being said, my wife, who has an EXCEEDINGLY sensitive nose, said these units made an immdiate improvement, whether that is due to dust reduction, or a little extra ozone in the air, I don't know. But since she's happy, I'm happy, and I gave 5 stars instead of 4. I need two baby wipes to clean the blades and follow with paper towel be completely dry. 6/6/18 update: Very happy still, and definitely pulling a lot dust out of the air. In order to ionize the air, the 3 blades need cleaning AND so does the leading wire. Though you don't have access to the wire proper, the unit has plastic piece to pull up & down which cleans the wire ostensibly. On our previous Sharper Image ionizer that wire got caked up with white stuff and I had to unscrew the unit to get in an clean it periodically. My one and only complaint is there is no finger hole or lip to lift the unit. Unless you can palm a basketball, you need two hands to move this around. Based on quality, I expect this to last 15 years like our sharper image unit did.

Update: Recently purchased 3 more and all i can say is save your money> the ones purchased several years ago were great and wrote a raviving review about them below. of the 3 none freshened the home and 1 emited no smell 1 almose none ant the 3rd one a very tiny amount. nothing on collection plates, etc... i called the manufacture as i was concerned and disapointed thinking that possably they have a bad batch and if i was the manufacture i would want to know also. the response i received from them was a shame. they were not concerned and simply said just return them where you purchased from and exchange or get refunded. this to me i think they made a great product at first, received great reviews and now they make junk/complete trash!!! OLD REVIEW: Have this for several years and now finally reviewing it. I'm in the Odor Removal Business The Good - No Filters to wash, replace, purchase - Cleans the air that pass's through the machine - light weight - Easy to clean - Not noisy The Bad - Emits Ozone *Notes: This will not rid your home or room of mold, it is not nearly strong enough! This will not take a home that was smoked in for 10 years and suddenly turn it into a home that was not smoked in! This will not remove urine odors wear dog or cat pee's in your home frequently! This will not remove cat spray odor! This will however remove the simple every day odors from within a room or 2 within your home or business. We have plenty of commerical Ozone generators available and choose this product in our home. with that said we do not use it 365 days a year we may use it for a week or 2 here and there and put it away for a while (several weeks-a few months) and use it again for a short time as it emits Ozone and caution needs to be used with any ozone emiting device!

First off I have had the original Ionic Pro when it was introduced on Sharper Image. There is one picture of both the New unit on old unit side by side. You need to know this is more for fine particles and generates negative ions which is most effective on small particles and odors. The metal plates collect the particles and they must be washed when the clean light comes on. There is no filter and the unit makes no noise except if it’s getting dirty and needs cleaning you may hear a faint buzzing. The Ionic Pro easily covers 500 plus square feet and will remove any odors and fill your home with that fresh post rain/lighting storm. Yes it generates ozone. Again Our family has used the previous version for over 20 years and never suffered any health issues other than helping to remove pollen and other allergens from the air. Helping with seasonal allergies.I bought a new one as I want to put one up at our lake cabin. How I understand it works is by generation of negative ions which attach to the various particles and instantly causes those particles to fall to the floor (the metal “filter”) catches most the particulates however if it misses some they will stay on the floor where they will be vacuumed or swept up when cleaning your floors. Everyone that comes to our home always comments on house fresh our house smells. We don’t use candles or any other “masking” room deodorizers or sprays. Just the Ionic Pro. There is always a fresh clean smell. We put it in a closet that had some musty odors and within 2 days that musty smell was gone and has. It returned. There are before and after pics posted so you can see the metal bars which act as the filter to attract the dust and dander again charged with negative ions. Great thing about Amazon is if you don’t like it you can always return it. BTW I have NOT received any money whatsoever for my review.

I opted to rewrite my review. This has been by far the best air purifier we have had. It’s quiet and no filter and I can visibly see it works. However, cleaning it is kind of a joke. Oddly I do like the bug zapper noise it makes, which it does when it needs to be cleaned. Well, there is no good way to clean. The blades are the easiest part to clean. My husband has used the air hose and it still doesn’t do a great job. I’ve used q-tips which is the best way but it still doesn’t get it all and uses a lot of them. The thing in the middle on the inside can’t really cleaned and in a lot of parts it also can’t be cleaned. I’ve come to the conclusion that after a year I may have to get a different one because I don’t care to clean it 1-2 a week during the seasons the heat is running. The twice a week when it’s the air conditioner or open windows I only have to clean it every other week
