Really good SSD
Used this SSD to replace a WWAN card on a Lenovo Thinkpad X270 laptop.Works as expected and it is super fast. I recommend it hands down.

Great item very pleased with this ssd card and it works very well. Set up without any problems. Had been sesrching for a good sata iii m.2 2242 form factor card.

Hot, but good
Probably one of the more respectable manufacturers in this size range. Used in HP 820 g1. As many have mentioned - it runs quite hot, especially when under full load. Out of the box it went as high as 86C during a 32gb crystal disk mark test, and was idling around 54C, which was quite unacceptable to me. As a result I applied this SSD with a thermal silicone pad and a copper heatsink. In the consecutive tests temperatures consistently stayed below 63C under full load and 40C at idle. The item arrived well packaged, and it delivers close to promised speeds. Installation was near effortless. It definitely runs hot, hence cooling solution is needed for longevity of the drive itself and the machine it is used in, but that's to be expected given the m.2 factor and 2242 size.

Bought to make external usb stick
Bought this to build an external usb drive. For bootin various isos and linux operating systems. It works well. Drive speeds are as advertised. Iops capability is good. But while in heavy use creates heat a bit mor then expected. For buyers: you might want to buy a thermal pad and heat spreader with this.

Easy to install - works great
I installed this into a slightly older Lenovo laptop (L440) with no problems at all. I have had no issues with the device at all - heat or performance.

42mm m.2 drive
Works fine, just what I wanted as 42mm SATA m.2 drives are difficult to find. What was a silly 32GB "cache" drive for the main HDD is now a boot drive, with a separate data drive.

Used in Linx Netbook
I have installed one of these highly successfully in my Linx netbook, taking from a 64 GB machine to 512 GB meaning it is now much more future proof. Windows updates proceed much faster and there is no need to use an SD card or external drive for memory when there is a major update.Cloning the drive was easy using the tools provided on the Transcend website.Fortunately my netbook has a small cover in the underside which exposes the M2 socket and allows easy installation.Top marks

Be Wary
This drive is supposed to be S.M.A.R.T. capable and continuously shows temperatures in the high upper 90°C / low 200°F range even when there is no especially heavy reading or writing to it. It reports that it is OK, but there is no documentation on what temperature is acceptable for this particular drive. It is a second drive in the same laptop. The other drive is an HDD without self-cooling and runs at around 30°C / 90°F.I do routine backups, but would not recommend buying until the manufacturer clarifies what temperature is normal for this drive. It will just make you nervous that it is going to burn out between backups. It is relatively inexpensive as I cannot use an NVMe and it seems fast for an older protocol, so I gave it 2 stars.
