Scotch Thermal Laminator, 2 Roller System for a Professional Finish, Use for Home, Office or School, Suitable for use with Photos (TL901X)

Purchased this when it was a daily Amazon special and am so happy I did! I've used it to laminate aging sheet music and to protect recipes from the ravages of kitchen spills. Both were easily and quickly done, with great results.The Laminator:It's a lightweight, small footprint device that is very simple to operate. On/Off switch, a release lever to use if the item you are laminating jams, and a 3mm or 5mm switch - relates to the thickness of whatever you are laminating; use the 5mm for thick paper or two regular sheets of paper which are back to back. The 5mm setting is the hottest and the machine takes about 8 minutes to heat up for initial use at this setting.When placing two regular sheets of paper back to back (with recipes on each side), inserting them in the 9 x 12 pouches with the crease into the machine first (any bubbles escape out the open end), I was able to laminate my project in less than 10 seconds. Very quick and easy, and the front end (the part that comes out of the machine first) is cool to the touch with the end out last cooling off in approximately 15 seconds.The laminator remains hot and after multiple sheets, I noticed no change in the output quality of this laminator.The Pouches:The laminating pouches that are used with this machine come in several brands including the Scotch brand. All are on Amazon and you can choose smaller sizes than the 2 large sized ones that come with this unit, but I'd suggest the same size and if you choose to laminate two smaller items you can simply use one pouch and cut the final sheet into two.Tips:Make sure when you are laminating that you have at least a quarter inch around the item you are laminating so that the pouch can adhere to itself - sealing the sides and protecting your item. If you leave the item sticking out, proper adhesion can't occur.Don't put lumpy items in the machine to be laminated. This will jam the machine and won't get the item laminated!Overall, it's a great item for under twenty dollars, and the only real costs are in the laminating pouches so shop around and get the best deal. Check 'em out to see what works best for your needs, but all will work with this super-easy to use, quality laminator.UPDATE: July 25, 2011I've been using this product to laminate back to back sheets of recipes, printed on regular printer paper. It works great! Using a 3-hole punch I then put my recipes into a 3-ring binder to have handy in the kitchen. If a page gets wet, I simply wipe it off and keep going. School awards and artwork get the same treatment before being put into safe-keeping.All in all, this is one of the best products I've ever purchased for home and office use. Highly recommend it!

I bought this laminator because it is a nice size for my home for when I need to laminate small projects. I like that it is easy to use and portable to carry around.

I'm quite happy I selected this laminator for my project of putting together a pre-school program for my granddaughter. I read reviews on several laminator's and all had some negative notes (as did this one) but I decided this was the best of the bunch for the price range I was looking for. Here's my pro's vs con's:Pro's:1-this thing is a work horse! I laminated 50 pages one after the other and it never blinked.2-heats up quickly and is super easy to use, simply feed it in and let it do its thing.3-price, this was actually one of the cheaper laminator's I looked at and one of the best rated for it's price point.4-perfectly laminated every time - no bubbles, wrinkles or warping. For those reviews that stated the pages wrinkled I really wonder if they fed the page in backwards - I could see it happening if they did that but my pages came out spot on perfect every time.Con's:1-not the speediest - I timed my machine and it took 52 seconds to laminate a 9x11 page.2-my machine makes a weird sprocket noise. I assume this is a "normal" roller noise for the machine but it does get louder the longer it is in use so who knows. On the plus side - when I shut it off and it cools down the noise is negligible on start up, at least for a bit until it gets good and warm again.3-I really feel there should be a retractable guide arm for the pages entering the machine. I got a little wonky guiding a couple of pages in and had to remove them and start over. Which leads me to the #4 con.4-the release lever is a pain to use - it's very stiff and you have to hold the top of the machine (which by the way gets pretty toasty) to actually release the page. I ended up pushing the end of the machine into my belly to actually get the release lever to work. Long story short - be careful how you feed the pages into the machine and you'll be ok.So over all I would absolutely buy this machine again. I've only laminated 150 pages in 3 days but I am very pleased with it thus far.

I do not do crafts. I do not have a home office. By rights, there was no reason at all for me to want or need a home laminator. But this one came up as a gold box deal for a really great price. I had a little extra money, I wanted to spend it on SOMETHING! And I vaguely remember one time that something I had once would have been nice had it been laminated. Well that was good enough for me!In all seriousness, though, this is a nice little home laminating machine. Easy to use and produces great finished results.Some things to know:- Read the Instructions. Instructions are your friend and they reduce all kinds of angst.- Very little assembly required out of the box. You just clip on the feeder tray at the top and you are ready to go.- Have some laminating pouches at the ready. This model takes pouches that are already sealed at one end. This unit comes with three but three are not enough once you get to laminating. You'll see what I mean....- It has two thickness setting 3ml & 5ml with pouches to match. If you are just going to be laminating paper weight stuff then the 3ml is good. Heavier card stock needs the 5ml.- It has a simple jam release. So if you find the pouch is feeding crookedly or you have the wrong setting or whatever, flip the little lever and release. Easy.- As soon as you feed something into the feeder plate the rollers start moving -- there is no start button or anything, so make sure you're ready for it to go. If the machine isn't ready (takes about a good 6-8 mins. to really heat up once you turn it on) the stuff will automatically feed through but won't truly 'laminate'Once I got the machine up and going I tried it out using a copy of a recipe I had on a 8 x 11 piece of paper. And then I did another and another. Pretty soon I was wandering around my house judging stuff for it's ability to be laminated!

Unfortunately I can't use! It's a U.S. Plug and it works with 120v 60hz 400w and 2,2 A.Nothing was mentioned. But even, the supplier could inform us and propose us a solution...........
