AirPlay works, but network setup is not for the faint of heart.
I recently purchased the AirPlay DLNA Qplay AirMusic Wifi Audio Receiver Music Equipment Wireless Music Box For IOS/Android. Let me start this review by stating that the Music Box works as an AirPlay device. I am able to stream music from my Mac or iPhone directly to my stereo using AirPlay via iTunes. I had been using a Squeeze Radio from Logitech to stream content, along with the Logitech Media Server. Unfortunately, the Squeeze doesn't support AirPlay and I now use Apple Radio as my music streaming source. I have Apple TV but the way my system is configured, I have to turn the TV on to stream music via Apple TV to my stereo, something I don't always want to do.Having sung the praises of the Music Box, let me give potential buyers some cautionary advice: if you don't understand networking, pass this Music Box by and look for another solution, like Apple TV. This is a GATEWAY device, meaning that rather than joining your wireless network like, say, a computer would, it can only be configured as a standalone network device that piggybacks on your existing wireless network. If you already don't understand this sentence, agin my advice is to pass up the Music Box.The Music Box has a very limited interface that is accessed via a browser, not too different than any other network device or printer. Unfortunately, your options are severely limited for network setup. As an example, if your wireless network has SSID advertising disabled for increased security, as mine does, then you can't set up this AirPlay Music Box without enabling your SSID and leaving it on. I tried enabling advertising it in order to join the Music Box to my wireless network, and once it was joined to my wireless network, I again disabled advertising. Unfortunately, this Music Box won't remember the network it last joined, and so the only way to make this work is to enable advertising throughout your wireless network. Very poor design and programming.Second, there is no option for DHCP, meaning that this Music Box could join your network as a "regular" Music Box (like a printer), and get an assigned IP address. I am really baffled at this oversight since that's how Apple TV itself works. At the very least, let there be a switch in settings to operate in either gateway mode or DHCP. That option doesn't exist.Third, there is no Ethernet adapter built-in, which means that even if you have access to a wired connection, you won't be able to take advantage of it. There is a USB connector and I didn't try using a USB Ethernet adapter, but I suspect it wouldn't work because the Music Box is locked into gateway mode.Fourth, as you can tell from the ad on Amazon, not only doesn't this Music Box have a brand name, it doesn't have any manufacturer listed or any website where I could go for FAQs or updated firmware. Assuming that there will be improvements made, there appears to be nowhere to get them. There's not even a website listed in the instructions.Fifth, there is no AC power connector. You need to have a 5w USB power supply, like the one you use with your iPhone, to power the Music Box. This may not be a big deal if you have a couple of spare adapters around, but if you don't, be sure to add this to your list of items you'll need to use this AirPlay Music Box.Sixth, there is no on or off for this device. It's always on. That means that you're allowing another entry point into your home network.Lastly, it is much flakier about holding on to an AirPlay connection than Apple TV. Now, in fairness, my Apple TV is hardwired to my network, and this Music Box is only able to use wireless. Read the paragraph above and you'll see that you can't connect to your network via Ethernet. In summary, if you don't have a spare 5w power connector and if you're not good technically with networking, pass the Music Box by. You'll only be frustrated, particularly as there is no place to turn for help. If you're good with technology and understand gateway devices and can live with your SSID having to be in advertising mode, then this is an effective device for AirPlay that is recognized by Apple devices as a legit AirPlay receiver for streaming from Apple Radio and iTunes.

Device installed easily got it hooked to my older Bose lifestyle system
Solid device although the order came from a slow boat from China 3 weeks. Device installed easily got it hooked to my older Bose lifestyle system. Sounds amazing through the optical out and pretty good from the rca red and white out. Played all my iTunes spotify over AirPlay. On my galaxy 4 and tab 2 used bubbleupnp to play music from my wD mybook live dlna server where I keep all my music. Will buy again and connect to my older wave radio. Nice device for the growing digitalphile in me.

Rarely connected to Wifi
When it worked at all, it was very inconsistent. There seemed to be no rhyme, or reason to when it would connect to Wifi

Wifi keeps dropping
Airplay keeps dropping. In fact the wireless keeps dropping which drops airplay. I have tried multiple configurations. Don't buy it. Its a waste of money. The other 2 5 star reviews are probably by the company that made this.
