We have 3 cats, two dogs, and two bedrooms at the end of the hallway. They probably get tripped 20-30 times a night. The batteries generally need to be replace every 3 months. I use Amazon Basic rechargeables. I just pop them on the charger in my morning if I notice low light and they are ready by sunset. **Q: How long does the light stay on?** A: When detecting motion, it lights up for around 16s. As long as it detects motion, it will stay on. **Q: can i turn them on and off manually ??** A: No, it does not have a manual switch. **Q: Do i have to screw or stick them on the wall or can i stand it up on a shelf?** A: You can stand these on a shelf, on the hallway floor or space them along a flight of stairs--they're stable and portable, bright enough for safety but not so bright to prevent you from falling back to sleep easily! I also have them on the front and back porches (facing the outside doors), on the bathroom floor, on a shelf inside the closets, on counters in the kitchen and any dark corner that needs a bit of light any time of day. Can you tell I'm a fan of these useful little lights?! Oh yes--I pack one in my suitcase whenever we travel. Enjoy these handy little lights. I have them for a few years already, and none got broken. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Economical, reliable and attractive! *by L***E on 16 February 2020* I have used these several areas now: on our stairs where they light up a couple of awkward corner steps , in my elderly parents home where they provide much needed light at night on their route to the bathroom and in a holiday apartment which has no natural light in its hallway and I could never find the light switch! I also have one inside a cupboard. The sensors ensure that they come on at the right time in response to movement and they provide just the right amount of light to show you the way after which they switch themselves off again. They provide a subtle downward light and look really pretty used in groups near floor level- I have placed most of mine just above the skirting. I can confirm the battery life is excellent as most of mine have been in use for more than a year. I recommend you rest them in chosen spots to check you are happy with the position before sticking them permanently. I have used a couple of other styles but these have been my favourites for the quality of light which is a lovely warm hue. Also the pack of three is a good number to use together in a hallway for impact and they are good value for money.
