diabetic dog
easy to use meter, like the programming functions... for something that is advertised to take a small drop of blood, it takes the largest drop of blood of any of my three meters I have tried for my diabetic dog. Yes, dog. it's cheaper than the darn Alpha Trak, and closely parallels it, except at the very high numbers (over 300), then it's anywhere from 50-100 points lower, but if you're over 300, you're too high anyway. when you get down into the 100s and 200s, its very close, sometimes within in 10 point. So, diabetic dog (or cat) parents, if you're also sick of paying ridiculous prices for the Alpha Trak and strips, this is an option. I used it with the unistrips. The CVS brand meter is another fantastic option and works with less blood.

Blood draw with One Touch is problematic
I order this meter because my new Medicare Advantage insurance provider would no longer let me use my Walmart Relion Ultima meter. I wanted to switch to Bayer's Contour Next meter, but the provider did not cover that meter. The One Touch Ultra2 seems to give readings that are generally comparable to readings from the Relion and Contour Next meters, but, compared to the Contour Next, the One Touch is clunky and getting a blood draw is problematic. The Contour Next strip sucks up a tiny blood drop quickly and provides a reading. The One Touch screen shows a code number for several seconds and then counts down to what you hope will be a reading. You need a good-size drop to assure that the test strip will draw enough to test. The Relion meter keeps trying to draw blood if the sample is too small so that you at least know the process is not working and can try to squeeze more blood for the sample. The One Touch just suddenly stops attempting to draw blood and jumps to an error screen.I'm a Type 1 diabetic on MDI, so I often use more strips strips per day than my insurance covers, and I don't want to wonder each time I test if I've drawn enough blood. I may eventually adjust to the One Touch meter, but I certainly wish my insurance covered the Contour Next.

It's readings are about 10% lower than the standard strips at higher readings (around 200+), but they are about the same at readings around 100. I think that's well within acceptable error range for home-used test strips. They are a bargain,

Works great.
Got this as a replacement for an older model. My lancing tool broke so I got this set for similar price of just lancing tool. Works great.

Good Unit
Easy to use and does the job. I made sure to order from a well-reviewed vendor, so got the test strips that came with the unit. Very happy with my purchase.

Four Stars
Works great - don't like the new "stick pen" and the lancets it uses - older version was better.
