Easy Lexus key shell replacement - Happy Wife
The Lexus key shell breaking is a common flaw in the 2004-2007 generation of the Lexus RX330 and many other Lexus vehicles in the era. My wife called and was panic about the key breaking in her hand, I did a little bit of research and found the key shell in both Ebay and Amazon both priced about the same. I like Prime shipping and Amazon's service even though it is provided by 3rd party so I went with Amazon.I was worried that my keys may not fit because they may not be factory original keys, but it worked perfectly, the swap took less than 5 minutes and you will have to break open the metal portion of the key from the shell if it is still in the shell. It comes with a sticker and metal emblem to make it look like a factory key.Fit and finish is decent but there is a small loose gap that many people have pointed out so I deduct a star. But it doesn't affect operation of the key. Best of all, the wife is happy and she didn't notice the small gap. My second key also showed some small cracks so I replaced the shell in my second key and it took slightly longer because I had to break the metal key out of the existing shell, but it is completely doable and both keys look brand new now. I also reused the existing screw because the provided screw seems to be in lower quality. So I basically got 2 "new" keys for a little over 10 bucks. It seems to be durable and even if it breaks in a few years, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one from the same company since it is a perfectly simple solution without going to the stealership.

Not for the faint of heart, but after assembly, works well.
Be aware, this is not an easy job. First, there are no instructions provided period. You just have to work it through. It is a low cost repair however!1st, take the old broken fob apart and discard the broken case, etc.2nd, use a hairdryer on high heat, see photo, to remove the old plastic at the end of the metal key. After a minute or two, the plastic will soften enough that you can easily pull the old plastic off. Use a vise to hold the metal key.3rd, carefully tap the metal key into the new plastic piece provided in the kit, making sure the holes in the key end and the new plastic piece line perfectly up. Be sure the metal key and new plastic piece are oriented correctly to fit the plastic covers correctly.4th, assemble the unit parts, referring to the Assembly photo. This would be a good time to replace the Lithium battery, CR2016. When all parts are properly aligned and snapped into place, us the longer screw provided in the kit. Do NOT use the original screw from the original parts. The New screw is longer and is necessary to assure both top and bottom cases are secured properly. Be sure to hold the case pcs together firmly while tightening the screw down firmly. Be careful NOT to damage the Philips head of the screw in the process. Note, the Lexus L symbol must be glued in place! It fell out before I did this! I used a Gorilla Clear glue. No glue was provided.5th, referring to the 'Not perfect fit photo' you will notice some remaining gap near the metal key. This is because of poor dimensioning of the Vendor tooling to fit the mental key shaft. You could, with small files, open the slot for the shaft slightly for a better fit. I did not go to that trouble, because, after proper tightening of the screw, the assemble seemed secure. The finished unit worked perfectly for my Lexus 2007 RX-350!See "The completed unit" photo. Good Luck !!

Dealers should be offering this
Fits 2004 GX470 keys. I confess I didn't call the dealer but was told by Home Depot locksmith I'd have to pay dealer fees running into hundreds of dollars for new keys. My first key broke after 14 years of use; I grabbed the spare and it broke within a week. I tried superglue, didn't hold, then this polymer tape. I've been carrying this trashy key around for over a year and finally decided to get serious about replacing it. I was thrilled to find this product, especially the 2-pack configuration. Just wish I had thought of looking sooner.

Not quite fit, but cheap
Bought a pack of 2 to repair both our 12 years old 2007 RX350 keys. The plastic looks cheap. Not sure how long it will last.I used 2 pilers to push the metal keys fully inserted into the slot.It works, although there is a tiny gap that cannot be fully close like other review. For the price, I am ok with it.Update:One of the two just broke today, after about 11 months of use.The other one has a crack since day one when installed, just still holding on....Too bad can't find other alternative.... so ordering another pack of two today for replacement again.

Almost perfect but....
Getting two cases for about the price of one of the others is nice and the "L" insert on the back is nice but there is a fit problem. The key "sock" or "sleeve" is too narrow and not exactly shaped correctly to just slide the key stem into it. I had to use a dremel tool to widen and slope to plastic "sock". After that it was fairly easy to snap close and here don't use the crappy useless screwdriver they send you use a real one ment for eyeglasses or small electronics. I'd have given them 5 stars if it had fit the key stem correctly but it worked good enough for 3 stars.

Great value
This is a huge value compared to having to key a new blank at a dealer or locksmith. The fit of the parts is pretty tight and therefore a bit hard to put together but is doable. Though installation seems fairly straightforward some simple instructions would be helpful to ensure proper alignment and snap-in. It's great that they include new screws and a little screwdriver. I would have preferred a little larger handle on the screwdriver to make turning easier.Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and now have two new workable fobs for a very low cost. And they appear just as durable as the original fobs.

LOVE this key case!
The key case functions almost exactly like the original. It was a bit of a challenge to assemble the key case but I understand as the car key is used daily to start your car and has to be tight or would break easily. It looks fabulous and I am pretty certain no one else would realize this was a replacement case. My car is a 2006 and I simply did not want to spend $200 for a new key when this works PERFECTLY!Yes, I would purchase it again!!!THANK YOU!
