Mixed feelings on this one - will give Book #2 a chance.
This is definitely a different kind of book. It is my first Sara Wolf book and I have Book #2 that I am definitely going to read and then we'll see about Book #3. In case you don't realize it - this is a cliffhanger!!Isis Blake has issues - to put it mildly. She's to be applauded for getting physically healthier, but mentally - she has a long way to go. She exudes confidence on the outside, but inside - there is a lot of self-loathing. Which is understandable due to her history, but disturbing nonetheless. At times I felt the writing was a little immature along with the characters. Jack Hunter is a scarred soul as well with a deep hidden, dark secret which we never fully realize, but get enough hints to figure out what the gist of it is.I felt the book dragged out the secrets a little long and again they aren't even completely revealed by the end of the story.I gave this 4 stars due to the fact that I do want to know what happens to these characters. The cliffhanger I did not see coming and I have mixed feelings about how it will go. I'll give Book #2 a chance and see if this rating holds up.

Quirky and Vicious
While I didn't love the plot of "Love Me Never" I loved the voice and personality of Isis Blake. She was confident, quirky, weird, full of references and extremely lovable. I would love to be like her, able to snap back at anything that comes my way. I have never had as much fun getting to know a character as I did getting to know Isis. Her fun and carefree side mesh well with the pain and darkness that lurks beneath her exterior. This darkness makes her feel real. It makes her more than a fluffy character and it makes her easy to connect with. She lures you in with her carefree side and slowly reveals her depth. The plot of this novel is similar to most young adult reads. Girl meets mean boy and falls for him. Boy has hidden depths that he masks under his rough and villainous exterior. Boy hurts girl and tries to get her back. However, there are a lot of subplots that are woven throughout this novel and I very much enjoyed them, but the details listed above make up the majority of the story. If the story doesn't suck you in then Isis will. She will grab a hold of you and never let go.I recommend this novel to fans of "Me Earl and the dying girl" because Isis is similar to Greg. A character full of quirks with a personality you just can't help but eat up. In addition, like "Me Earl and the dying girl" there are some real issues lying between these books pages that make it more than just a fluff story and instead something real and tangible.

Exciting, entertaining, and emotion-filled novel that I couldn’t get enough of
Love Me Never by Sara Wolf is book one in the Lovely Vicious series. It is a YA romance novel."A guy broke my heart - No, more than that. He broke my soul, my heart, and who I used to be."Isis is strong and ready to take on the world, but not take anyone's crap. She is also super awkward in a stick-you-in-my-pocket-and-take-you-home kind of way. Mix these qualities with a bit of a crude, self-deprecating reflection of self and you know that teenage Isis, at a new high school, among strangers, may be set up for times of heartbreak."Jack is steel and black ice. He's deadly serious, sharp as a katana, and as disorienting as a mountain blizzard in December."Enter Jack Hunter. He is smart and gorgeous, and all of the girl's at their high school crave him and his attention. But, he has secrets and is a closed book. The likelihood of him giving one ounce of attention to ad oddity like Isis is so very unlikely, but he does. And in doing this, he opens the door for a relationship that is mostly unwanted and completely unexpected."...hope is hard to hold without cutting yourself on it, so I try not to hold on too tight."Written in dual points of view, Love Me Never was the book I had to put down to adult, but doing so made me want to cry. I seriously LOVED this book. There are times when a novel filled with funny one-liners tickles my funny bone, but often lacks more substance. Lover Me Never tickled my funny bone, but also danced all over my emotions in a way that only an Isis-dance could do. The linguistic expressions and crazy, laugh-out-loud moments had me rolling in laughter. But, the intensity of the story line as it progressed made me hang on every word."An immovable object meeting an unstoppable force.""Two unstoppable forces crashing and careening off a cliff to their untimely deaths."Although Isis and Jack had declared war against each other, they soon realized that love and hate were such closely related emotions, and could cause a crossing of enemy lines. This revelation amped up the story to an entirely new level, making my heart pound harder and harder as each page was turned. This progression of desperation led all the way to the ending that abruptly stopped my pounding heart and made me gasp for air then shout. Holy smokes! What a way to leave the door open for more.Love Me Never was an exciting, entertaining, and emotion-filled novel that I couldn’t get enough of...on to book two.

Very deep story
I read all the reviews so wasn't too sure of this story but I'm glad I did. WARNING spoilers ahead. Isis is at a party and hears jack be mean to Kayla and that sends her over the edge because he reminds her of someone in her past and decides to wage war on jack, because in her mind if he apologized and she got them together it will somehow fix the past. There are some lol moments at the things Isis says and does but when u really think about her actions and ramblings it,s coming from a person who's mind has completely broken she's having a mental breakdown, I think it takes someone who has to have been severely bullied to point ur mind breaks to understand the depth of the story that's why I love jacks character although she has fixated on him to punish for what happened in her past he understands her, he still fights back after all he's just a 17 year old boy no matter how mature he seems this book is great on showing the long lasting damage both physically and mentally bullying has on the victims. Isis is mentally broke pretending she's OK awsom and doing fine that's what u need to understand that way u will understand what the author is portraying in this book 5 stars for this book its spot on and I got the message its sent loud and clear those who don't undersand it or think its stupid are clearly the kind of people who do the bullying or have never been bullied so can't possibly understand the true depth of this serise.

Emotional rollercoaster
Isis is really a very good person who has gone through a lot. You slowly throughout the series find out the whole story about her background, but from the beginning you know something happened. She closed herself off. She was such a relatable character.Jack is a different type, he is closed off for different reasons. His story is more difficult to unravel and for a long period of time I did not like him. What I liked most about this book though is that the characters actually act like teenagers. There is the right amount of angst, bravery, stupid decisions and general teenage stuff. Other books sometimes talk about a 17 year old but they act and look like 25, this really feels like the right sort of age for the characters.

A New Favourite
Summary:Isis Blake, 17 years old and heartbroken. As a result she has promised herself she will not fall in love again. Forced to move to Ohio with her mom, who is suffering with PTSD after being in an abusive relationship, she has lost weight and dyed her hair and is attacking the world full force with her "I Don't Care" attitude. Throw Jack Hunter into the mix; the most coveted guy around but who won't date anyone in high-school and has earned himself the name of "The Ice Prince."Isis has had it with players and boys taking girls for granted, so when she is faced with Jack she initiates a war by punching him... in front of everyone. She refuses to fall for him and goes out of her way to let him know how much she hates him, as he retaliates accordingly. She soon realises she has started a war with the wrong person, as Jack ups the attacks as she delves further and further into his life. Soon they become entangled in their web of pranks and secrets, and find more common ground than they had initially expected. My Thoughts:I loved this book so much! When buying it, I had expected it to hover around the three star mark but it had so much more depth than I had anticipated and was over-run with humour and quick-wit. The dialogue was executed well between Isis and Jack and their individual banter permeated the whole story.Isis was a force to be reckoned with. I loved how Wolf depicted Isis as a cold and tough person but who was shielding her hurt and vulnerability. She has been victim to so much but wasn't slipping into a self-pitying depression but was fighting back. It was a fresh approach that I hadn't come across in many YA novels before. She had also had to swap roles with her mother, and nearly become a parent to her after her mother's suffering and Isis was a character you really couldn't help but feel so much sympathy for and root her on as she fought out her beliefs against Jack.Jack Hunter. WOW! He too had a deep past that was slowly uncovered and he wasn't hiding a typical or predictable past. He wasn't necessarily a "bad boy" or hiding a deep dark past, but rather he had had his fair share of trauma and was dealing with it in his own way. Hence when faced with trauma-stricken Isis, sparks of every kind began to fly.I think this novel really eradicated any predictability. You could claim it was obvious that girl hates boy, boy hates girl, they get together in the end. But there was SO MUCH MORE to it than that.I read this in two days and wanted to scream when I finished it- WHAT. AN. ENDING! The last few scenes were pretty eventful enough and you think you've had the plot twist and then out of nowhere- punch in the feels. I love/hate cliffhangers as do most readers but that ending is up there with one of the best (even though it hurt so much!) twists I've read. This is definitely up there in my list of favourites and one I'd recommend to anyone that loves YA, NA, Drama, Plot-twists, Humour. It exceeded so many expectations and I am so looking forward to reading the remainder of the trilogy as it's just astounding.

What did I just read?
After being recommended this book by a book blog (which I am now reevaluating their influence for book recommendations) I can honestly say that this is a day's reading I won't ever get back. Poor storyline, annoying characters - especially protagonist - and overall unenjoyable read. I was dubious spending over £4 on a kindle book, and in this instants, the price is definitely not worth it. Would not recommend.

A gem
This is one of those rare books that will stay on your mind and have you constantly checking for when the next in the series comes out. The main character, Isis, is absolutely hilarious. I have a soft spot for funny yet lovable characters and she was just that. Within The first 2 pages of the book I knew it was going to be special. Jack was...woah. Witty, intelligent, and fabulous. Their love was definitely not instant but slowly developed throughout the book and by the end you were left screaming no at the infuriating ending. I have to admit I was quite confused at the Sofia incident plotline but I can let it slide because Isis and Jack are just so good. *spoiler alert!* My one issue was the whole she planted drugs in his locker thing. That was totally unrealistic and way too far. It was kinda just let go afterwards but if someone planted drugs in my locker I don't think I would want to talk to them again much less seem them as a romantic interest. The book was still amazing though
