This rack made life easier for my driver since she no longer had to lift my chair into the back of my Ford Freestar van. The only fly in the pie is the mounting bracket is rectangular and requires an adapter.which Amazon does not sell and the company who mounted the hitch did not have either. However with a bit of thought and invention on the part of the counter man and service tech the rack was mounted and ready for use. If anyone reads this comment pleas let me know if they found the proper adapter and where. Thanks.

Best buy in years
After researching all the types of wheelchair carriers I selected this one. There are no machine parts to break and then have fixed. It is lightweight and easy to install. It has a simple process to load and unload mothers wheelchair that keeps me from having to lift the chair itself and saves my back from strain. This purchase is the best one I have made in years! It is appropriately priced for my budget especially being retired myself. I have had this wheelchair carrier for over 6 months now and still appreciate it every day. It attaches to my trailer hitch on my Grand Cherokee Jeep and allows me to open the back tailgate with and without the wheelchair on it. So nice that I can have mother, wheelchair, dog and groceries/shopping all at once!

Not so good.
The car we installed it on is a Chevrolet Equinox, and the wheelchair is an Invacare Tracer IV. The problem is, that using the carrier is harder, or just as hard, as lifting the chair and setting it in the back of the car. The reason it is so hard, is that when the carrier is folded down and tilted, you can't fully roll the chair onto it, either the wheel wells that hold the back wheels of the wheelchair are not long enough, or the angle is not steep enough (I see no way to adjust this), to allow the chair wheels to settle in before tilting the chair/carrier into an upright position. This means we have to be pushing the chair forward, and lifting up on it at the same time, to get it to work. It is hard enough for me to do, but almost impossible for my daughter, who is the one who mainly transports my wife.It may be useful for times when we really need the space in the back of the car, but we will probably be removing it between times. We are extremely disappointed, If we hadn't had so long a wait to get the trailer hitch installed, I probably would have returned it.

The carrier is not perfect but it's so much easier than lifting the wheelchair in and out of the trunk of the car. The post that holds the wheelchair in place is supposed to swivel but we can't get it to so I have to take it out to load the wheelchair and put it back in the secure it, then reverse the process to take it off. Other than that, I really like it and would definitely recommend to others.

Wheelchair Hitch
placing the bungee cord over the front wheel requires a good deal of strength but I managed to get it in place. The unit is heavier than I thought it would be but I just keep it one the car at all times. I can still get into the hatchback if I remove the standing rod so it works for me. The fact that I don't have to lift the chair is wonderful. Also it doesn't rattle when I drive.

much easier to tote daughters wheelchair
Due to our age and health problems we were finding it very difficult if not impossible to lift the wheelchair into the trunk our daughter could not manage an electric chair.I am so glad I found this lift which enables us to easily transport the manual chair. If I were to suggest an improvement it would be a simpler way of letting the chair down it is sometimes a little difficult.

Bad news for back problem folks
Height of hitch makes all the diff when it comes to the angle of the tilted tote. On my car (Chevy Cobalt Coupe, Class 1 hitch req) the angle is too steep to roll the chair on. Must lift chair. Bad news for back problem folks. Chair can fall off due to tilt mechanism engaging while driving.

Works well, but as with other reviews it takes a bit to get used to loading. Once you do that process goes faster.
