The most distressing thing is that Gotrek doesn't sound like Gotrek. He sounds like more of a random ...
So many times I had to stop and ask myself, WTF did I just read? Disjointed, vague and I actually questioned, in some spots, whether the author knew what certain words meant. There's a plot, kind of. Lots of different things going on that don't really tie in to each other by the end. Too many vague descriptions that could either be this or that and are never really explained. The most distressing thing is that Gotrek doesn't sound like Gotrek. He sounds like more of a random dwarf with an axe looking for a fight and then he's not even in a third of the book. Also, my personal nitpick: the term Gotrek uses for Felix, "manling," to me has always meant "man" as in "human" and "ling" as in "young." When Gotrek and Felix first started out, Felix was indeed a "young man" so the term fit at the time. Felix is now and older man, Gotrek just continues to call Felix "manling" because that's what he's always called him and it's almost a term of endearment. But this author seems to think "manling" is a term all dwarfs use for all humans, which doesn't make sense. Dwarfs should refer to humans as "man" or "human." Also note that "dwarfs" is the plural for "dwarf" as used by King/Long and other Warhammer old world authors, not "dwarves."William King or Nathan Long this isn't.

I wish I read the reviews first. This, in my opinion, was a very long winded story that Gotrek and Felix just happened to appear in. Mr. Guymer didn't capture the spirit of the Gotrek and Felix series at all. So much of this book was dedicated to descriptions of the environment instead of actually describing the action that this pair is known for. I found myslef skipping ahead just to see if anything was going to happen soon. Very disappointed, I will likely not read more from David Guymer. **I had to edit this after seeing that David Guymer wrote "Curse of the Everliving" which I enjoyed as an audio book. It was much better than this book, although it wasn't as good those written by William King or Nathan Long. **

Author sucks!
So confusing at times! You keep screaming "Cut to the chase!!!" The author has a finger nail on chalkboard approach to detailing the story. One of the worse in the series yet! Fire the author get King back!!!

Can't recommend
The only book of the series I haven't enjoyed so far. It feels like the writer just got a brand new thesaurus for Christmas and wants to use all of the fancy words, even when they didn't work grammatically. Not to mention the waste of the unique setting and the characters acting out of character, and the convoluted mess of a story.

Disappointing
I am a huge Gotrek and Felix fan but this one was very disappointing it almost as though its about two completely different characters felix seems especially floppy. Also no sighn of snorri, hope the next one is better.

Also für Mordheim Fans; schaut's euch mal an,Für reine Gotrek & Felix Fans; keine Empfehlung meinerseits.

Wrong author for the job
Gotrek and Felix, both suddenly blabbering on and on.They should have let Nathan Long keep writing. And he is competely loosing himself in descriptions. Instead of keeping the story going. Also, it is completely frustrating changing the narrative point of view.. Before it was always Felix Jaeger, because he is the author of Gotrek's Story. Now other point of views appear. Sorry, but this book is totally unlike Gotrek and Felix.
