Pathetic narcissistic unresponsible dad
Pathetic narcissistic unresponsible dad, chasing skirts and running away from family. -But oh, so cute and charming, dysfunctional mother thinks. Will he come back?? Who cares.

Great!
I am a 10 year old girl (almost 11). This book was great! It's about a girl named Emily, but her dad calls her Emerald. Em loves her dad more than anyone else in the world, even a tiny bit more than her mom. He tells great stories and funny jokes. On Christmas Day, Em thinks it's going to be the best Christmas ever. Her dad gives her and her siblings great presents. Her brother gets expensive markers, her sister gets a cute reindeer puppet, and Em gets a real emerald ring! The dad also gives the mom silver sandals and the grandma designer jeans. Em spends the day playing fun games with her family. Unfortunately, she hears her dad talking on the phone. He has a new girlfriend, named Sarah. He leaves the family to be with Sarah, who turns out to be very rude and obnoxious when the kids meet her on New Year's Day. After the dad leaves, Em tries to cheer up her sister (Vita) and brother (Maxie) by telling stories and making Vita's puppet, Dancer, talk to them. Em's favorite author is Jenna Williams, and she jumps at the chance to meet her. She has a lovely time, and even spots her dad in the crowds! She runs toward him, but falls... heavily on her arm. To find out what happens next, read the book!My favorite character in the book was Em. I thought she was really sweet because she tried to make her family happy when they were sad. She was also good at making up stories and swimming, and I like both of those things. My least favorite character in the book was the grandma, because she seemed kind of grumpy and mean, though she did care about her daughter and grandchildren, such as when she took the whole family to Spain, or when she took Em, Vita, and Maxie to London to see Jenna Williams.A strange character in this book was Jenna Williams, because she seemed a lot like Jacqueline Wilson. Her books were a lot like Jacqueline's, for example: Forever Friends (Best Friends), Teens on a Diet (Girls under Pressure), The Girl Gang (Bad Girls), The Emerald Sisters (The Diamond Girls) Piggy in The Middle (The Suitcase Kid) etc.Anyway, this was a great book! For school, we have to pick a book to finish by November 11, and I finished a lot of books. I was originally going to pick Katy (also by Jacqueline Wilson!) because it's a great book, but I'm going to pick this one, because 1. I finished it and 2. IT'S AWESOME!!!!!

Great Book, TERRIBLE Dad
I've actually shown this book to my tutor and i told her how it ended and she made a face like she swallowed a spider. We both agreed that the family woud have been much better off without the stupid father. I basically agree with the grandma the whole book. The father is selfish, stupid, and is willing to give up his family for another weird women ONLY TO COME BACK AND BEG TO TAKE HIM BACK AFTER HE BROKE UP WITH SAID WOMEN!!!! He literally said at the beginning of the break up that "this was the real thing. I really am in love". UMMMMM PARDON ME SIR BUT THATS WHAT MARRIAGE IS FOR. ITS NOT HOOK UP AND BREAK UP! BUT as poo as the dad is, the book is easily my favorite book by Jacqueline Wilson. And thats saying a LOT!

Clean Break
This book is called Clean Break by Jacqueline Wilson. It is a book about a girl named Emily whose mom and stepdad have split up. Emily's stepbrother Maxie and stepsister Vita are both younger than Em(short for Emily) and don't really understand that he has left. When they see him during New Year's, he partially ignores him with his new girlfriend. He takes them home, but they are mad at him. Whenever they see him, everything goes wrong. In the end, Maxie, Vita, Em, and her mother are lying in bed waiting when they hear the doorbell and a familiar voice..... I enjoyed this book very much. I thought Em was a great charecter through it all. She was a little self-consious of herself because she was a bit chubby. She had to deal with a lot of teasing and different problams. She was very brave and this book shows that life can be hard. My favorite part in this book was when Em got her books signed by Jenna Williams. Em is thrilled to meet Jenna William and is a bit shy. After they talk and Jenna Williams signs Em's books, she compliments the book Em is writing. Em is thrilled. Afterwards, Maxie sees a clown a runs! Em chases after him and when she catches him, she sees their dad! They run after him, but Em falls and breaks her arm. This is one of my favorite parts, because Em is happy and gets reunited with her dad.

A Clean Break
I love Christmas. Not that it is the birthday of Jesus, it has Santa and gifts and you know, all that fun stuff. But Em has a sort of tragic holiday. Because her dad is leaving and living with another woman! I think this story reminds me of Scrooge from <A Christmas Carol>, too. It starts with a Christmas scene and ends with one too! I didn't see her arm breaking, but it is kind of a tragedy. And I love the reindeer that Vita got, I imagined a real reindeer doll inside my head as well. Read it before winter ends!

Clean Break
It was OK but…The plot is basically about a girl called em (emily) Who loves her stepfather a lot.Its chrismas day and em thinks its going to be the best chrismas until she sees her dad on the phone to another woman.Em starts crying and soon the whole family know.Em makes her dad promise he wont run away but then he does…It wasnt my favorite.I would recomend it to people with a quieter personality who like daydreaming.
