Refreshed Late 2013 Redesign for ultimate performance! The Electronic Rat Killer by Aspectek is the most advanced on the market today. This product will allow you to trap and eliminate rats from your home quickly and cleanly. Unlike some rat traps that may leave the pest injured or allow the rat to escape with the bait in its mouth, the Electronic Rat Killer is a rat trap that works! - The electronic rat trap that delivers a powerful high voltage electric shock to the rat as soon as it steps inside. You’ll be surprised how quickly it works. - The best way to kill rats, because you won’t be left with a mess. You can slide the rat straight out of the chamber and into the trash without ever having to touch it. - Unlike some products, you can clean and reuse it. The electric power pack is removable so you can safely wash the chamber. Rats are smart and won’t go near a trap that smells like a dead rat. Wash it after each use and you can zap as many rats as necessary until your home is rat free. - Comes with two convenient power options, AC adapter and battery. You don’t want to run out of electric juice just as the rat nears its bait. - Please make sure you dry the device before plugging it again. If you’ve tried other traps on the market without success, it’s time to try the best electronic rat trap on the market, the Electronic Rat Killer by Aspectek.

works but needs improvement
This thing does work and the AC adapter is a very thoughtful option. I've never had bait stolen but I only caught a few rodents with this trap regardless of bait or meticulous handling/cleaning. Rats just don't seem interested and avoid these kinds of traps while with a classic snap trap it isn't a question of whether I'll catch one but whether I want to deal with dead rats (although I've since learned if I leave them out, the scavengers are always willing to handle disposal lol yuck!) Anyway once I started putting this thing out the electrode plates immediately started corroding no matter where I put it. Now that didn't prevent it from working necessarily but I would think these would be made of a more corrosion resistant metal when one of the prominent features is the ability to remove the chamber for cleaning. also rust doesn't conduct and i could see it getting to the point where the circuitry may not sense a potential rodent...again they never really went inside anyway. The dc power jack started corroding as well and that did affect operation. I would set the trap and turn it on and then check sometime later and it would be off until I moved it or wiggled the plug. I managed to get zapped when repositioning the trap and neglected to switch it off but I thought that the layer of plastic between my fingers and the plates inside would prevent this. It wasn't pleasant but nothing serious and certainly my fault. I guess the plates are not well insulated maybe that;s why people have problems with these traps triggering in damp areas. After the interlock switch (this deactivates the trap when you separate the chamber for cleaning) broke I finally got rid of it.

Expensive Mouse Feeding Station
This unit stopped working very quickly. It killed two mice in two nights. Since then I've set it three times, and in the morning the green light is flashing, the food is gone, but the trap is empty. It is now just feeding mice. I've tried gently wiping it out, making sure nothing was stuck to the sensor pads. I put sunflower seeds only in the very back end of the trap, but the mice are now crossing the kill plates, triggering the flashing green light, but eating all of the seeds and leaving unharmed. I had two rat zappers that lasted years before malfunctioning, so I thought I'd save batteries and try this one with A/C power. What a disappointment. Two stars for two dead mice, but no more.

Not sure...
I used to own the Rat Zapper and it worked well. We didn't take it in our move. My daughter described hearing th tell tale noises of rodents, so I decided to get this trap. I was drawn to this one because there was an option to plug it in.Well, it was there well over a week and nothing was caught despite the siingof a mouse. Once the light was flashing red but nohing was inside.I don't know if their is an electrical current sound that is keeping the rodents away - or if it is the light that flashes while its on. Once I picked it up while plugged in, and it shocked me.I didn't try the battery operation.

Greatest Rat Zapper Ever
It perfect you never run out of power.i never have to change batteries. I've had other brand. Your always changing batteries or if you forget they explode and ruin the device. The light system lets you know at a glance if it zapped something. Thanks

I'm happy I picked this trap
So far (only a few weeks into trapping) we've caught one of our attic-invaders. Baited with peanut butter and plugged into a nearby outlet, a few cold nights led my furry little friend to get curious and hungry.I don't enjoy killing things, and I wish there was a way to give them a good warm home. But when my house (and sanity from the nightly scratching sounds) are on the line, this is a good, easy, clean, and arguably more humane way to take care of the problem ourselves. Will update if any more are caught. I've heard beef jerky is good for bait.

Caught no rats so far
The rat is just laughing. I will change my review IF and when I catch him. I have owned two Rat Zappers prior to purchasing two of these. The originals were superb! They were bigger, sturdier and MADE IN THE USA, not in China like this device. I called tech support and was told there is a 30 day warranty, but the instruction sheet says 1 year. The instructions on this Rat Killer say that the flashing red light will turn off so as to not scare the rats away. The instruction sheet says it will continue to flash every 5 seconds, which it does. Perhaps my rat knows that flashing red lights are warning lights. I promise to edit this review if this electric death chamber ends up doing the job.

Like the AC power option
I like the ac power option because I place the unit in a rather small attic space with sporatic rodent activity and the previous use of battery-powered units always left the question of whether the unit was still powerful enough to work. Fortunately, I have power access just where I need it.I downgraded the unit slightly because I would like to have the "rat tale" accessory (available with battery-powered Rat Zapper brand) to place where I can see whether to empty the unit without climbing into the attic.

Rat feeder
This is a joke and I am sure that if rats could laugh at it they would. Rats would enter it and take the bait and it failed to kill a single rat. Don't waste your money on this item.

Worked the first night!
Awesome product. It worked the very first night I put it out.Comes apart for easy cleaning and the option to have battery power is very nice to be able to place the unit exactly where I need it.Update:I have a chihuahua and cannot use poison or snap traps in fear that they will harm him. This type of trap seemed ideal for my situation.I used only a few pieces of dry dog foodSet it up by my garbage storage areaCaught my first rat in less than an hour.Had to rinse out after and let dry overnight. (rat relieved itself while dying)Set it back up and got another the next night.Got another a week later and haven't seen any more since.Con - Decal and instruction stickers are not waterproof (you do need to rinse out after each use)

Works as advertised !
Purchased this as a more humane way to eliminate rodents. Chipmunks though cute, were burrowing under the house front step stonework, under the pavers out and under the asphalt driveway. That will be a large repair bill eventually. Filled their holes day after day and they keep coming back. It was like a sink hole ... handfuls of crushed limestone between the pavers and asphalt kept disappearing. Neighbors feed them (and everything else) and they breed like rats. Was using a staked snap style mouse trap - but with the possibility of a squealing injured rodent sitting there all day we hoped this would be a more humane way to eliminate them quickly. That and a lot less messy! Within 2 hours of setting it out for the first time, crackers leading in and peanut butter on the back wall - zap. One down, probably 5 more to go. Only using outdoors when no chance of rain and when we're around to prevent it from killing everything that's wandering in the yard that likes peanut butter. Will be blocking up stonework cracks with chicken wire to prevent re infestation.Used with the supplied AC power adapter, the red light on top blinks every 5 sec when armed, blinks green after it's been triggered. Dump out the rodent, re-bait and rearm. Works as advertised !Now if they made a model for raccoons....

Good rat feeder
Received unit yesterday. Baited and set trap as per instructions. Has tripped 3 times with bait (peanut butter) but no capture. Bait is gone all three times and visually saw rat enter the unit and leave after tripping unit and consuming bait. Unit is located in camera monitored garage with temperature slightly above 0C. Will continue to re-bait/reset a few more times but am considering return of unit as it seems a complete failure.

it did not hurt any mice better to put the money into poison or more silver boxes
I put food inside to see if the mice were going inside. The mice dragged the food out of it (it was all the way in the back) and left me the scraps of food right next to it. From all appearances it did not hurt any mice, it just feeds them. Eventually I put a simple silver mouse "box" next to it, and the mice went into it and got caught that way. I would be happier if I had put the money into poison or more silver boxes.

Zero catches. Completely useless.
Did not work for me. Total failure. Not a single catch. I have had rats partying in the basement for a year. They use this rat "trap" as a toilet. That's right, they walk into the "deadly" chamber, defecate, and move on with their day. (Yes, it's turned on, as indicated by the blinking light.)I finally got rid of most of the rats with a commercial-grade poison/bait laid by a professional exterminator. (Which pretty much amounts to paying someone to drop a few little packets around your house for a few hundred bucks. The bait can only be purchased by a licensed professional, and is not available to the public.)
