Bauhaus: Shadow of Light/Archive

I disagree with a previous review, the sisters of mercy are not hokey. I liked this dvd for the videos she's in parties and bellalugosi's dead. Some other videos were in bad taste.

do I really need to explain why?-Bauhaus-Peter Murphy/Daniel Ash in their Prime- This is a upgraded Audio/video of Their Classic videos:1 a collection of their groundbraking visual interpretations of their songs & Archive:1 of their last concerts filmed at the old Vic theater(a landmark theatre from the 1800's) in London 1982-sidenote-great to see their "Berlin in the 1920's" Sturm&drang classic quote that bassist &drummers brother David J.(interviewer asks him):Why do you perform on stage with just stark white lights? David's reply:"coloured lights are for Christmas Trees"

So happy to finally replace my old VHS tapes with this DVD. The picture quality is about the same as the VHS, but I think the sound is good. Just turn it up very loud and you can't go wrong!If you love Bauhaus and don't already own this, what the heck are you waiting for?!?!

I think Bauhaus's sound still holds up far better than say, Sisters of Mercy, who sound hokey by comparison. This has some really well recorded live performances (my friend ventured that they must've used board recordings; there is as I recall no noise, it sounds really clean). Also Peter was really f'n hot back then!

rare Bauhaus live DVD. Great addition. Can retire the worn out vcr tapes

I was skeptical about the quality of this DVD due to previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Considering that this was transferred from VHS tapes of 20 years ago, I can definitely recommend this to anyone who has never experienced Bauhaus before.

Well i waited a long time for this DVD.I do not mean the post.I adored Bauhaus when i was a boy and after watching this i still do.This band where just so made for the camera,their stage performance is totally electric and wild,oh to have cheek bones like that.Their promo videos are so suited to their sound you get the impression that everybody that worked with them knew exactly how it should be done.The music itself is just ground breakingly Brilliant.Get this piece of work and you will never look at a rock band the same way again.Super Cool.

David Bowie was there that night at the Old Vic,as was I, in the front row ,and I hoped I might get to see myself at last on a cleaned up dvd but unfortunately not.Still, it was a great show and having not seen it for a long time I had forgotten about Pete Murphy falling over and his tights becoming baggier as the evening progressed. The camera work is average on the live footage as can be judged from the fact that the whole concert has never been available. Still worth having as a reminder of when times were different and a concert ticket was £5.

BUY IT. Great example of post punk goth. Live show + videos. What more do you want? A great reminder of the genre, a time when people innovated rather than just imitated.

An absolute must-have for any die-hard Bauhaus fan - a collection of all promo videos & live performances from Hammersmith Palais in '82. I will be watching this a lot!
