Not what I expected, but good so far
This is a long review, so bear with me. I live in an open loft. My bed is in a spot which I call The Tree House, is 42 feet up. There are no windows for a window a/c, and the skylights do not open.I have central a/c but the highest ducts are only about 30 feet up - well below my bed space.I've been on a mission to get comfortable up there. First, I tried moisture-wicking sheets and moisture-wicking yoga clothes for sleep. Those wicked away the sweat, but I still was sweating. Miserable. Then I got a bunch of Lasko home air movers which are FANTASTIC - they move air from the bottom floor all the way up to 42 feet. But it wasn't enough. So I put a Vornado tower fan (also fantastic) at the edge of my bed. Still not enough. I was sweating like crazy, and absolutely miserable.Tried cooling pads, which just get hot! Cooling mattress pad also just gets hot! More misery.I read the reviews on this bed fan and decided to go ahead and buy it. I HATE the feeling of fans on my skin, but determined this was the only option, based on the positive reviews. I figured I could get used to the fan on my skin, even though I hate that sensation. This bed fan was super easy to set up. I followed the instructions online, it took maybe two minutes tops to set up. It does feel really cheaply made, but it hasn't fallen over or anything yet.The fans are at the bottom of the unit. Not the top, so of course I was concerned this was another dud. I turned the fan on and laid down and was NOT impressed. I was boiling.I was, however, pleasantly surprised that this fan does not give the sensation of a strong fan blowing on your skin. Since the fans are at the base of the unit, the breeze really does feel like a breeze instead of a fan assaulting your skin.More than anything, all it did was lift the wicking sheet off my body. Like I said - I was disheartened and disappointed, figuring my misery would last forever. However, as I was reading in my bed, and my body cooled down, I started to feel the benefits of this fan. At first it felt hot and useless. But again, after I stayed still for a while, it really cooled me down.I've only been using it for three days, but these have been the first three days with no sweat since I moved in two years ago.The fan actually makes me too cool as the night goes on! I snuggle with my down comforter on the top of my body, leaving just the wicking sheet on my lower body. Thee gentle breeze on my feet at the end of the bed keeps me from sweating.Again, this fan basically lifts the sheet up, which keeps heat from getting trapped. It does not blow on you like the harshness of a strong fan. It creates a "bubble"-like space so your body can breathe. So far, three days in, I can say this is the one gadget that has worked in my unusual home setup.I will update as I continue to use it, but for right now, I am pleased. Also, it is important to note that this bed fan only works on one side of the bed. It lifts the sheets for me, but not for my husband. All the benefits are for one person. - if two people are hot, you will need to buy two.

US-made, Quality Build, and Decent Design for an Affordable Price
Quite happy with what it does. 2 relatively quiet muffin fans witha variable speed control and a power adapter (wall-wort style on a 9-ft.extended cable) in a well-made durable plastic enclosure with a 1.25-inch x 15-inch wide baffle channel (the sliding upper portion) to duct the air under your bedding and or sheets. My bed has both a head and footboard, so be sure you have the 1.25 inches of clearance needed at the foot to place the fan at the end (or you can just put it along side the bed as-well.) The raiseable upper baffle also serves as a sheet riser, if you wish to have additional space for your feet. it's pretty thoughtfully designed and the plastic molding is quite durable. If you have a lot of dust bunnies under your bed, you might want to add a foam filter to the fan intakes so as not to blow all the dust under your sheets (or vacuum it up, of course). This might be more of a concern for pet owners who have dogs or cats that like to sleep under the bed (the pet hair will get sucked up by the fan and blown into your sheets above.) It's reasonably quiet as-is, especially if you dial down the fan speed, but for those tinkerers out there, you probably already know several manufacturers make ultra-silent 12VDC muffin fans that would work quite well as an upgrade to the ones in this baby - but would push the price of this unit another 25% higher. Just remember dual ball-bearings, and rubber mounts, if you decide to upgrade. Compared with the Brookstone unit, this one is quite stable, has a wired (versus battery powered wireless) remote, and a slightly narrower duct thickness, and basically better electrics. Just for giggles, I'm going to experiment a bit with freezable ice packs and see if I can't replicate the old ice chest air conditioner effect with this one. I think using peltier wouldn't work well since the hot side is pretty much in the same room as the cold side, but value for the money, bedfan hits the mark on-target (lots of company background history and instructions on their website at bedfan dot com, too.)

There are easier ways to stay cool
Ineffective unless you lie perfectly still. It was a challenge to install with a footboard.

Yes and No
This product is as described. It works great. There are no manufacturing issues or concerns. It is made of plastic and can appear rather inexpensive but it has been sturdy and durable. It is very light weight and tips over when the sheets are tucked in around it as the instructions tell you to do so. The fan is placed at the foot of your bed. The reason I says its okay is because it makes my feet really cold. You can adjust the fan speed but even on the lowest setting it can be uncomfortably cold. So now, I usually sleep with socks. That being said, on the occasions when the sheets come untucked you can no longer feel the air and my feet get hot. Not sure about the noise it makes either. I love a box fan sound. The fan on low speed sounds like a gentle hum. Once you pick up the speed the sound is a little more interesting. Don't know how to describe it. This was a difficult review b/c I feel this item is great for some people and not others. I will say that the owner does put a note in the box to contact him if you aren't happy or want to return it. I did not contact him b/c I kept the fan.
