Quality for the $, Functionally Accurate!! A+
A product with both strong build quality, quality materials {in the most critical areas of design}, and a Strong value, based on priceTOquality. This is a real useful accessory, for any outdoors enthusiast or even people like Artists who trek in State parks etc, to take photographs. The functional bottomline: the Strike Rod, and blade, easily create sufficient sparks to light a fire,( w/ basic knowledge). The blade also functions as an actual light duty knife. Both held by formed plastic clasp holder, or can be taken right out and used by hand, or secured to any # of shafts. Again, this is great LightDuty stuff, like foolishly yet annoying straps or cables that are stuck, unwrapping foliage caught up in a rig, or tripod, or backpack. Alert Whistle is loud, I had to fully remove it from my wrist to get proper angle , but it’s easily enough to deter, most predatory animals at first,( please don’t go find a bear and test it, but Things Happen- I’ve been photographing wildlife for 20 yrs, and been confronted by animals easily capable of inflicting mortal wounds, 10+ times. I’ve also gotten lost, fallen (w/ injury), gotten stuck in an area that, ‘looked easy to get back up and out of, only to find NOT SO MUCH’. I have a team nowadays, but I was a loner for many many years, w/ barely a cell signal to rely on most times). I wear 2, (note : ‘hint’ I’ve got a big wrist this just fits my 9” wrist. The whistle extension can pinch if it’s facing out), so I put on 2 Paracord Bracelets notch to notch, and they’re fine. In a true emergency or situation where you would actually undo the paracord, personally I bought 2, just for that reason. I’ve found no bracelet with enough paracord to do anything really helpful, all wrapped up in 1. 2 however is enough to create many things,, (and at this price, you can attach 1 to your pack or whatever, ). So you don’t buy emergency outdoors stuff thinking about their multi uses, but here are what I’ve experienced, over my career. 1: Sprained ankle, twisted knee, both I added splint supports, and tied on with 2 lengths contained in 2 bracelets. 2: created a simple loop & Cinch knot, making a useable device cord to pull myself up out of a river bank up to the bridge again, going approx 3mtrs, at a time until I gained footing again. 3: Applied a Wound Pack, and not only secured it, but made a tourniquet using a lens pen. (After a harmless looking fall on a rock, but my wrist caught a jagged edge. The would was maybe 3”, but I hit a major vein, and because I was hiking, it would have become a problem. 4: After finding a Great Horned nest , w/ owlets, I couldn’t get an angle to shoot. I made a foot hold loop, allowing me to steady on a branch and gain 3ft I’m shooting height- the results were miraculous, imho . When it’s all said and done, yellow and black, just a cool inexpensive hip bracelet.
