Nice sticky stuff, doesn't stay on phone, but very small, a tad wobbly
Nice sticky stuff holds phone in the dock well and doesn't leave residue on the phone. The one big drawback is that this thing is very small. The fact that it is small leaves it a bit wobbly and some angles are harder to "get right / stable" than others. Otherwise I probably would have given it 5 stars. Nice looking, good material. Only other complaint is that most Micro USB cables will be a tad too wide for the cable inset. To fix the wobbly/stability problem I thought I might try constructing my own "base" with a $5 plastic picture frame and possibly a screw (camera tripod sized) to attach it.Seller shipped quickly. Price was a just tad high.Tried this on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and HTC Droid Incredible 2, with a rubber cover. The Nexus stuck well without a cover. The DINC2 rubber was hard to get just right. But the rubber was cheap, so I'm not sure this is the fault of the Capta.

Capta For the Smarter Phone
Capta is a strange looking almost alien device that was a kickstarter.com project which has taken off in the commercial marketplace. This simple gadget is a device for mounting on a tripod to hold a smartphone in position to make stable video footage. You twist away the protective cap and simply stick your phone to the mount. When finished you twist the phone away from the mount. There is no sticky residue, no mess, the phone will be clean. If the Capta gets dirty and messed up you can wash it in soap and water and it is working again. You can not believe how cute this gadget is, how strong, how easy to use.It was expensive for me to import a couple of these from Beach Camera in America. But well worth it.

Good while it lasts.
When I bought the Capta, it's the New Capta in black without the metal cover. I thought it's going to replace the silver one. Now I don't find the black one anymore. Anyway, the adhesive idea to hold the camera phone is the same. A couple of things to point out. (1) If you have a frame case on the phone, the case rim protruding beyond the back would prevent the use of Capta, contradicting a video I saw which shows that Capta works with all kinds of cases as long as the surface is smooth. A tip: with my slightly textured case, I solved the problem by pasting a strip of clear sealing tape on the phone back to smooth out the texture. (2) Now the drawback. It's true that washing the pad somewhat restores the stickiness, but it definitely loses its effectiveness after use. The twisting or pulling the phone off the pad gradually separates the pad at the upper corners. After shooting hundreds of photos over a number of months, the adhesion has weakened to the point that my camera fell off a couple of times. I've started looking into a different adapter. The Capta's lifetime is limited.

Heck yeah
I'm totally impressed with this. It grabs my phone (a Nokia 808 PureView - relatively big and heavy) very securely so there's no wobble and I'm never concerned that the phone will be dropped. It's small and light so it travels well, airport security doesn't get suspicious of it, and it works well with both small/portable tripods and regular full-size ones. Highly recommended.
