A redemption story
I'm coming to the end of my binge of this author's work. Sadly, not all of her books have been released on Amazon.com, although they're available on Amazon UK. This book is mostly about Pia, a ballerina who has taken the world by storm but she's not a nice person. She's promiscuous, rude and prone to having tantrums. She's at the top of her career when she is involved in an accident and her foot is seriously injured. She loses sponsorship deals and her place in the Chicago ballet company she dances for. Her rival swoops in and takes her job and sponsorship deals. She is "rescued" by a wealthy UK businessman called Will and he helps her recover and arranges for a dance off with her rival in order to help her make a comeback. There are other excellent secondary characters including her assistant Sophie, who Pia treats terribly and then fires her immediately after the accident. Sophie is a great character and has loads of bad luck in life and with men. The reader really roots for her to come right. As usual the author has written a complex tale with loads of different characters and subplots. Her books are never quick reads but they are always compelling.

Not Karen Swan’s best
I love Karen Swan’s writing however I did not enjoy this book as much as the others I’ve read by her. All her characters are always flawed like real people, but in this storyline it was very difficult to relate to any of them as they all had such deep secrets and there was very little character development. As the book ended I still feel like I did not have a good grasp on who Pia really was. The ending was very rushed when a lot of the middle could have been cut out to start the end game relationships earlier. Sophia’s relationship seem like it just sprung out of no where and had no real time to develop to allow the reader to understand why they fell for each other besides just the surface level of both of them being artists.I enjoyed this book more so because of the writing prose rather than the actual story. I have greatly enjoyed Karen Swan’s other novels, yet with this one I was more disappointed.

Review of Prima Donna
This was an alright book and I was just not sure if I could recommend it to anyone who loves romance novels. I just couldn't get into it.

AH-MAZ-ING!!!!!
I stumbled upon this book and fell in love. Prima Donna tells the story of prima ballerina Pia Soto, a self-absorbed dancer, whose life is turned upside down after a potentially career-ending accident. I didn't think a story about a ballerina would appeal to me but boy Was I wrong. This book was witty, touching and even had a few jaw dropping twists and turns I didn't see coming. The plot and characters were well-developed . I highly recommend.

I found it hard to relate to the main character ...
I found it hard to relate to the main character. The story was fairly interesting, but not something I would read again.

A beautifully written story
This was a beautifully written story. The story of a lonely prima donna and those who surround and direct her life. There are sub plots and characters to love and hate. A great book!

worth reading
very interesting and full of suspense as to which of two ballerinas would be the winner. the book has its share of sex, romance and intrigue to keep the reader's interest until the end. My only complain is that the chapters of the book are often very long.

Great from start to finish
A really good read, this book enthralls from the beginning. The characters are well-developed, with increasing nuances introduced as the book develops. I felt I had to keep reading to see how things would pan out, & I certainly did not predict the twist at the end. I have read 3 of Karen Swan's books now, & this one is the best so far.

Loved it!
Yet another fantastic story from Karen Swan; she just keeps coming out with new and different stories that are all different. This one grabbed me from page one, taking me into the world of Ballet. It has it all, drama, mystery, love, greed, tragedy and guilt. I loved every minute of it.Pia Soto is exactly what you expect a Prima Ballerina to be, spoilt, high handed and rude, to go along with her brilliance and beauty. I did like her even though there were times I wanted to slap her. I did really like Sophie, her long suffering assistant, she always gets things wrong, she’s clumsy and awkward and puts up with all Pia’s tantrums, because she needs the job. I just loved Tanner, he was my favourite character, down to earth and honest; but to be fair I loved them all they are so well written and real. Writing amazing, realistic characters is one of Karen Swan’s fortes and one of the things I love most about her books. The plot line is exciting and dramatic, with twists and turns I didn’t see coming till right at the end. The story kept me gripped from beginning to end and I hated having to put it down. I can’t recommend this story highly enough; so yourself a favour and get a copy today, you won’t be disappointed.

Brilliant read
Pia Soto is a lady who knows exactly what she wants and how to get it.Sophie O'Farrell is her put upon assistant who will do whatever it takes to keep Pia happy, going above and beyond her job description to ensure that happens.Putting these two characters together drew me into the story immediately. But it's what happens when they have to exist separately that makes the story what it is. Watching their lives move away from each other, seeing them find different paths in order to survive as best they can, endeared them both to me.The way the author concludes the story is brilliant. I will definitely be checking out her other books now.

Awful - all the people are so horrible!
Oh gosh - this is such a bad book. No one is nice! Such self obsessed people. Usually with this genre you know who is going to end up with who - no matter how much they dislike each other. Well I’m 61% through the kindle version and a) I have no idea and b) I simply couldn’t care less. In fact I hope they all end up single and alone as they’re all such horrible people.

A bit complicated but worth persevering with
I love karen swan books have read them all now. This was a bit complicated and after reading about 3/4 of it I returned to the beginning. I'm glad I did because then it made sense. A great read

Enjoyable summer read
One of Karen Swan's earlier works I think. The characters are predictably all impossibly rich and good-looking. Great book though. There were heart-warming and funny moments and the characters and situations were skilfully and sensitively portrayed as usual. Just enjoyable, light summer reading. I recommend.
