Excellent book, explains details much better than most other T2 books
I've read many books on T2 Diabetes, trying to understand details of what causes T2, and what I need to do to reverse (or at least reduce) my insulin resistance. I have read the most popular books on Intermittent Fasting and T2, and though they had great information, most seemed way too simplistic and left out a lot of details that I wanted to know. On the days I don't fast, what do I eat? How long does it take for IF or LCHF to "cure" T2? Why do I get huge spikes the day after I fast? This book is the most "honest" I have read. Because the author had T2 AND he is a PhD that works in the biotechnology, he does a great job of explaining T2 on a cellular level, as well as a personal level. He uses his journey of reversing his T2 to explain what is happening, and also what to expect. For me, the honesty of "what to expect" was probably the most helpful part. No book I had read told me to expect it to take weeks or months for your glucose levels to decrease, even when you are eating less than 20-30 carbs per day. I expected it in a week or two, and after awhile would give up in frustration. However, since reading this book and sticking religiously to LCHF and also some IF, my levels are coming down slowly but steadily.Other revelations in the book for me were:- If you eat too much protein, it turns into glucose. Really? I thought i could eat all the protein I wanted, even though my own experience would agree with exactly what the author says.- BMI measurements are absolutely worthless as they don't take into account whether you are muscular, small boned, large boned, etc. (In his prime, Arnold would have been considered extremely obese by the BMI measurement).- The current standard ADA treatment is totally wrong, and is making the T2 epidemic much worse.- Most T2 drugs make T2 worse over the long run, thus making T2 a progressive disease when in reality it is reversible (or controllable) through diet in most (not all) cases. In summary, this is a great book gives some great scientific details that other books are missing, as well as dealing more honestly with what you can expect by LCHF and/or IF. I highly recommend this book!

Finally....a good explanation of what happens in your body with diabetes and how to heal YOURSELF.
I found this book EXTREMELY helpful. The author's background lends itself well here.... and I can only be thankful he undertook this endeavor of sharing. Nobody else has given us this much information in one place about how diabetes happens, and all the ways it affects the body. In my case, so many questions were answered. And for once, I am able to understand. Diabetes is insidious. I consider myself a smart and learned person.... but I had no appreciation for the catastrophe that finally thrust itself upon me with symptoms that could no longer be ignored. I spent months getting the runaround from medical doctors who really didn't have any interest in helping me to "heal"....and I knew what happened to others when they took "those" medications that were recommended to me. (It's the beginning of the end...) It wasn't what I wanted. I am only 48. On the other hand, I didn't know enough myself to get well....and I couldn't find anyone else that cared as much as I did and the information is so piecemeal everywhere. (So WEIRD that so many people have this disease but there is such crappy information everywhere!) This book has literally been a lifesaver. I am sad that I let myself get to this point....but honestly, with the knowledge I had previously....it was just a matter of time. I ate "healthy." Lots of fruit and veggies. You cannot eat too many of those right? Weight Watchers and other diet plans tell you so. That is why I could never lose weight on them. My Achilles heel all along was not sugar but FRUCTOSE. Dr. Fung's book turned the light on....but I was left wanting more information. This book fit the bill. I am able to heal from many of the ills. I AM able to control my blood glucose easily with keto. I would like more information on how to overcome the "dawn effect".... but that's really the only place I'm struggling. (50% of the time I end up being in pre-diabetic ranges in the morning with fasting glucose....and what is is weird is....longer fasts seem to exacerbate the problem). While eating keto, I find that IF makes my problem worse. I am trying to figure this out. If anyone has a clue. Please feel free to share. If you have diabetes and are trying to truly relieve yourself of horrible fatigue, neuropathy and other life-sucking symptoms.... this book will really help you get better and STAY better. Thanks so much Tom....I probably owe you my life.

Get Inspired to Ctrl Your Own Health
This book is an anecdotal account of the author’s journey of learning how to control his Type 2 Diabetes rather than to follow medical advise without questioning it.After following doctor’s’ recommendations to “manage” my own diabetes for twenty years or so, and getting sicker and sicker in the process-needing different and more medicine, with an ever increasing fasting blood glucose; I have finally decided to try something different. No, it’s not the HFLC, Keto diet he follows. I’ve done Keto and it does work force the short term, but it is nutritionally deficient. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. So, I am inspired to try a Vegetarian Keto diet (low carb without grains), but supplementing for B complex. I hope to be able to reverse diabetes and live a healthy life for the first time in a long time.
