The Korean Kitchen
I recently became interested in Korean cooking.Looking at video's from Maangi on the internet is great ,but i love cookbooks ,so I decided to invest. It is beautiful and easy to read and follow the instructions. It is a beautiful cookbook with history buying guides and pictures. At the same time I also got Aeri's cookbook, which is not nearly as pretty but very easy to follow. I am not sure which I prefer. I guess it depends on your level of interest in Korean cuisine. What seemed to be a rather complicated kitchen makes it a little easier with this book.Love it!

Beautiful and Delicious
I love Korean food. The spice, the warmth, the variety of dishes at each meal. It's all wonderful to me. I have purchased a number of Korean cookbooks over the years but this one is inviting. The photographs draw you into the individual ingredients as they are described in the first part of the book. Not only is there a description of the flavor profile for the ingredient but also a photo that shows you what the packaging for that product looks like! Showing the packaging makes it so much easier to find that particular item in an Asian store when you can't read the language. Table settings for different occasions and photos of meal setups got me excited to try the recipes immediately. I have only made one recipe from the book so far, Spicy Kimchi Stew. The stew featured kimchi, pork and tofu and was totally delicious. Photos show certain recipe preparation steps as well as a beautiful picture of the finished product. I say assuredly that I'll be making many more recipes from this book!

Beautiful book, but not what I was looking for
Photographs are gorgeous and it is well laid out, but I was looking for a book on more common dishes and methods. This was not what I got. The dishes are complicated, with many ingredients. OK, I am a cook, but I am not a Korean gourmet and just want to learn basic Korean cuisine. So, it is not the book I wanted, but may be just what someone else is looking for.

Great if you want to read about Korea instead of a Cookery Book
This is a lovely looking book but for a cookery book it isn't great. The first third is all about the country and the people and has nothing at all do do with recipes. While I do like to read a bit about the factors influencing the food, I don't want a third of the book taken up by this especially when it is such a slim book.If I wanted a travel guide I would have bought oneThe recipes are ok for the ones that are actually there, the photos lovely but I am seriously disapointed in the number of recipes, after all, isn't this why we buy cookery books. Even one of my favourite staples of Korean food is missing. I should really have returned it and purchased another book but it is always a hassle and you end up loosing so much of the purchase price

Almos the same book as Korean Cooking
The book is basically the same as "Korean cooking" by the same author.. with a few less recipes and bigger pages. I ordered the 2 and was very dissapointed.
