Helps break up fascia
I was told to buy this by my Physical Therapist since I get really tight really easily and foam rolling wasn't cutting it. I simply strap this band around my quads and run through a quick 1-3 minute stretch/exercise routine and I'm good to go. Every once in a while I will have to do 2 days in a row, but typically one round works well enough to break up the fascia.I like this because it is quick, and it did get in areas I have trouble foam rolling. However, if you're like me and enjoy foam rolling you might miss actually feeling your muscles release. I have only used it for my quad muscles, but I assume you could use it anywhere.

Fantastic tool
As someone with some structural issues, I use a boatload of tools to keep mobile just to play with my kids, and even more to be able to workout and stay healthy. I have foam rollers, gliders, grinders, balls, massage cushions, a $3000 massage chair (worth every penny, btw), and the list goes on. I count this tool as one of my favorites and most versatile. Instead of moving the tool over the muscle like a foam roller, you move the muscle under the tool, somewhat akin to many soft tissue release techniques that usually require a partner that usually costs money every visit. I have actually cobbled together some tools to try to do the same thing this tool achieves but they arent anywhere near as useful or effective. You can really tighten this band down and get fantastic tissue release (but quickly, before the blood flow to your extremity ceases). Or you can wrap it a bit more loosely and do mobility drills and warmups with it, which is awesome. Or you can wrap it just a bit looser than that and where it for the duration of the activity you are doing. This is a truly amazing thing. I have hamstring issues and had to dig a trench in my yard (trencher wasnt an option due to location and vegetation) and my hamstring was not having it the first day. The second day i wrapped this around my leg with the balls/nodes in the 2 biggest trigger points in my hamstring (and 2 others in my quad because there are 4 balls/nodes). Not only did that stave off the typical tightening and pain, but it actually felt better than it normally does after the task that should have put my hamstring on lockdown. I like this thing so much I am going to drop some major coin and purchase a few more as well as a few of the wider version with the 2 rows of balls/nodes. The one drawback is the time it takes to wrap on if you are only doing the short duration tissue release. But I dont think there is a better solution so I cant really consider it a drawback if I am being honest. This is a genius idea and it looks like the execution is good, too. It has yet to start tearing at the holes in the band and the balls/nodes have not started fretting even after what has to be hundreds of hours of use. If i could give it 6 stars I would.

No better than a lacrosse ball
I regularly use a foam roller, lacrosse ball, bands, and an orb for pre- and post-workout myofascial release. I was impressed by the CTM band's marketing, but the product really doesn't offer anything new or different from what's already on the market. The biggest problem is that it's very inconvenient. If you only have a few minutes to warm up and mobilize, you'll spend at least 20 percent of that time moving around the knobs and readjusting the band. Plus, it's really made to help mobilize your quads and below. I don't see how you can use it on your shoulders or back in a meaningful way. It's not a bad product or anything, and perhaps if I never rolled on a lacrosse ball before, this would be super, but I do not like it more than the tools I already use.

Relief of Long-Standing Muscle Injuries
I bought the CTM band on a friend's recommendation to deal with persistent hamstring problems, where I would routinely have a hamstring pull once or twice every summer. I had always adhered to my physical therapy for treatment and prevention, but it never quite was enough. The CTM band is, in my opinion, a huge help in augmenting physical therapy for injury recovery and prevention. For my hamstrings, quads, IT bands, and calves, I can dig in much harder and feel a lot looser after using the band as opposed to a foam roller or lacrosse/softball. Anecdotally, since using it regularly during the summers (and occasionally in the offseason) I have not reinjured a hamstring in two years, and a long-standing calf issue that troubled me for years has faded into memory. Of all of my home PT toys, the CTM is by far my favorite (and is dramatically more useful than the same band without the rubber ball inserts).I will say, it is not for the faint-hearted, you have to be a bit of a masochist to grit through what can be (if you're very tight like me) an uncomfortable couple of minutes while the band does its work. Personally, it doesn't bother me, the relief and looseness at the end is worth it, but reading some of the other reviews that mention its ineffectiveness unless pulled tight across the skin....I don't think they're wrong, you just need to accept that it's not a comfortable feeling, but neither is putting all your weight on a foam roller or softball.Overall, if you don't mind the discomfort, I personally believe the CTM band to be the most useful tool I have for helping the recovery and prevention of soft tissue injury.
