Great read to inspire me on my road to being a vegan!
I have been a healthy eater for many years but it has been a long process limiting myself to primarily vegetarian meals. Living by myself, moving to an area of the country that is promoting sustainability and a organic lifestyle has made this goal much easier and I now eat , in addition to loads of organic fruit and vegetables, only milk products, fish and an occasional grass fed burger. After reading this book I am determined to make more changes which, I hope, will lead to a vegan diet.Roger Gloss has written a honest narrative of his journey to become a vegan. His explanations of the treatment of animals raised for consumption are disturbing enough, adding to that the knowledge of the profound impact on climate and ground water that these feed lots ,swine and poultry factories have made over the years , literally takes your appetite for meat products away.I admire his commitment and am grateful he wrote such an clear and honest overview of the issue. I intend to use this book as a reference as I continue on my path to better health. He has included many sources for vegan meals and recommendations of food that he has personally tried as well as lists of books and documentaries that he has used as incentives on his journey.I highly recommend this easy read to anyone interested in improving their health as well as the health of our environment by choosing to be live a vegan lifestyle.

THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE!
After I had the privilege of hearing Mr. Gloss speak, I purchased several copies of this book. I read the book the evening I received it. Book is short and powerful and easy to read and full of information about climate change and agriculture and ethics. The writer leaves reader to draw own conclusions, and I became a vegan the instant I finished the book. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn so much and to be able to participate in making some changes on our planet. I highly recommend this book. I appreciate you, Mr. Gloss!

I heartily recommend If Pigs Could Talk
Roger Gloss has written the book that all vegetarians should buy for the friends and family members who meet us with scorn and/or pity on Thanksgiving and other such occasions. The cover picture alone should be enough to melt the resistance of the most dedicated carnivore. Who could think of eating such a delightful, smiling piggy? In his book, which is clearly and entertainingly written, Mr. Gloss makes his case for a plant based diet with gentle humor and understanding while relating his own journey to vegan-hood. A major theme of the book is the importance of changing our diets if we are to avoid environmental catastrophe. In short, I heartily recommend If Pigs Could Talk.

It's difficult to ignore the truth
It's such a shame that we've become so cruel in our treatment of animals and workers. Our disregard for what is being done to the planet will hurt future generations, yet big business doesn't care. Even if you can't go vegan yet, you/we can surely cut back by half or more....

A really informative and heartbreaking book about why we all need to consider what we eat
It is a must read book for any person considering changing to a whole food plant-based or vegan diet or for one who wants to learn more about the state of current factory farming in the United States. This succinct, quick to read book presents many reasons to do so from the perspective of a climate activist who came to the conclusion what we eat dramatically affects the health of our planet and is directly correlated to climate change. The book chronicles his journey and discovery of both and the facts and arguments that lead to his change to a diet without animal products. It contains chapters relating to the affect the meat and dairy industries have on climate, on land, on water, propagating inhumane treatment of farm animals, of pollution, of labor, our health, of sustainability and last but not least some helpful advice on what to eat. In a book that can be read in one sitting and makes a good reference, it conveys straightforwardly that we consume too much and this overconsumption has a waterfall of adverse effects which all could be changed by simply changing what we eat. As someone transitioning from vegetarian to vegan it helped me solidify my commitment to do so without hitting me over the head but by presenting the positive reasons for why doing so is a necessity if we want future generations to enjoy this beautiful planet we call home.
