Great Minecraft math workbook!
I've tried my fair share of addition and subtraction workbooks. Some were too easy. Some were boring. Some were not good for advanced level. Some were drills or did not have that many pages for practice. After a lot of reading, I decided to give this workbook a try. I'm always looking for things that will get my son excited about math. He's really into Minecraft, so, this workbook looked perfect for him. This was a great buy!1. It gives my son the correct instructions, it's easy to read and organized well. He can work on his own!2. The activities are varied throughout the book: number talks, addition and subtraction strategies with regrouping, tricks for mental math, and CogAT problems.3. He's learning so many different strategies for looking at and thinking about numbers! The problems have enough repetition that he knows what to do. He's never got bored with the workbook!4. Why? There are soooooo many different pictures to color! Very positive pictures and I was shocked at how long it held his interest.5. Tons of mazes and he's really enjoying them.6. A great Minecraft themed search, too! A few a very tricky! A great way to keep my son interested in learning new words and reading. This workbook is great and my son loves it!

Unexpected benefit of using popular game "Minecraft" to guide math learning while they play.
We came across this book looking for the Minecraft merchandise. Being a parent of 2 boys one is always "on the lookout" for good presents. Book's cover instantly attracted our attention. Both the subject and the age group are clearly stated and the book does not disappoint.1. I don't have to ask my boys to "study math". They are learning and entertaining themselves at the same time.2. The book keeps them busy with activities they already like and it doesn't require my involvement, supervision.3. Somehow, they get most answers right. This is first for me, as we usually go over it several times before they are comfortable with the subject.4. I'm not sure if I'm qualified to critique the content or a method. I do like that all illustrations are somewhat familiar (do not distract too much) and the steps are clear and easy to follow.5. I didn't have to risk a fortune. After reading through all reviews for this book I was hesitant to order (at the time there was only 3 and one review is quite confusing). In any case, we are done with this book and are looking forward to other books from this series. Is there a web version of this book ?

Amazing workbook to practice addition and subtraction!
I bought this math workbook for my 1st grader who is somewhat advanced in math. I needed to raise my son's confidence in math and engage him in fun Minecraft activities.1. It turned out to be a useful and helpful tool to grasp the concepts of carrying over or regrouping methods. It's nicely organized, and there are many problems to help my son find his favorite and most comfortable way to add or subtract.2. I like the repetition and layout of the workbook, that contribute to "filling in his gaps."It's also designed step-by-step. First, adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers vertically and horizontally, then, adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers. These tactics don't get too boring for my son and help him do addition and subtraction fast both on the paper and in mind. Great workbook for what I needed!3. The book is entertaining! The coloring illustrations and mazes help him enjoy math when he's bored or tired. Lots of problems on each page improve his skills and keep him engaged and challenged.Works every penny for us!

Great books and I don't have to nag my kids to spend time working in them!
I purchased the different levels of Minecraft workbooks for my 10 and 8 year old. I love it teaches them different strategies solving problems. They actually find it fun. The video tutorials are helpful and the books are the perfect level of challenging but not overly so. They bring the books with them and work in them without me nagging :) wish math workbooks were like this when I was their age!

great workbook
My son is a first grader but advanced in Math. He really enjoys all the puzzles and mazes as well as the math practice. We decided this book has an out-of-the-box approach, sort of a unique and different way to solve the problems. Excellent for critical thinking. It took us a bit to get the hang of it.. it wasn’t completely straight forward but effective and engaging once we figured out the language and intent. I highly recommend this for students excited about Math or even those who don’t like it but process it in a unique way. My son loved the characters and dialogue also. We are used to very dry straight forward math so this was fun and different. Highly recommend it!

Great help to parents!
Love the books in this series! So clever! What kid doesn't like word searches and coloring and especially if it is someone who is into Minecraft? It is a great help to parents!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE
1) This is a poor excuse for a Minecraft theme (unofficial or otherwise), and contained more non-Minecraft illustrations (the exact same 5 aliens printed on every other page) than the very poorly illustrated "Minecrap" ones; and the cartoons were utterly awful, making no sense at all - similar to assembly instructions written in another country, lacking accurate syntax, spelling, or contextual logic. But far more importantly:2) This is an absolutely deplorable excuse for a "math workbook" (let alone a STEM anything). It is potentially damaging to the young learner when it comes to math, is incredibly confusing, and jumps immediately from a 2nd grade level of confusing, convoluted jibberjabber to pre-algebra problems with no explanation, then back again to this nonsensical confusion about 2nd grade addition and subtraction, and round and round - all explained by the exact same non-minecraft alien cartoons duplicated on every page of the book; with a few infrequent, non-inspiring puzzles mixed in, once every 10 pages or so. The answer key in the back simply contains a small facsimile of the pages. This book is a shameful excuse for Minecraft, but more importantly, is confusing and potentially damaging to young math learners.
