With our all new patent pending Overall Length Indicator Cut! Our innovative patented 3 step face design will measure the minimum case length (bottom step), maximum case length (middle step), and also show you the SAAMI specs for maximum allowed chamber headspace (difference between middle and upper step which is the face of the gauge). See pictures for more information. The Shooters Box case and ammunition gauges are manufactured right here in Malden Massachusetts, by American workers from American metal on American machines! Made from Stainless Steel and built to last a lifetime. Each gauge is manufactured to S.A.A.M.I. (Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute) min chamber / max headspace specifications. The gauge will measure the maximum cartridge length (full overall length), the minimum and maximum case length, the maximum case diameter, and the minimum and maximum headspace. A loaded cartridge should fit freely and easily into the gauge. A cartridge that doesn't fit properly may not correspond to the proper chamber dimensions. Place a clean cartridge into the gauge and make sure that it completely seats by itself with no assistance to seat it. The head of the brass should sit within the middle and bottom step of the gauge. If the cartridge sits higher than the middle step your brass might be too long. If the brass is lower than the bottom step it is too short or the bullet crimp is too much. With the cartridge in the gauge, check the backside to make sure the tip (bullet end) is not protruding outside the back face of the gauge. If the tip of the bullet protrudes from the end of the gauge, it is longer than the maximum allowed cartridge length. If the cartridge does not easily drop into the gauge without assistance there is most likely something wrong with the dimensions of your cartridge. Any ammunition shown in the pictures is for representation purposes and is not included with this purchase.

Easy & Accurate
Slick & easy, if the cartridge slides in & out it should chamber and fire. I had several 40 S&W cases with "Glock Bulge" that failed inspection, and after running them thru the Lee Bulge Buster (separate product) they worked perfectly. So it works!

Great craftsmanship
Product is well made and works perfectly. I have purposely tested cartridges out of spec and it is as accurate as any of my Lyman or Dillion gauges. The tri-step gauge is a nice touch.

Easy to use and well made
Easy order process, really fast shipping. This case gauge is well built and very easy to use to sort brass before reloading. I will buy more now that I know the quality.

peace of mind your ammo is good to go
every round i load and check with this gauge has chambered/fired/ejected. can't ask for anything better. If the shooters box makes a gauge in the cartridge I need, that's the one I buy/use

This is a Awesome American Company that produced a beautiful machined .40 case gauge. I am a retired machinist and was very impressed to the attention of detail in the machining of this case gauge.Quality
