It was important to me that they were whisker friendly (tick) and an aesthetically pleasing, simple design (tick). In addition to this: the ridged design reduces overspill, and prevents the frustration of food being stuck in a corner; the small half-moon space at the base means they can eaily be picked up; the non-slip feet work; the shallow dish size prevents over-feeding; they are light but not so light as to move about; they seem well-made and that they will last.
