The zipper and material aren't straining at all when the zipper is closed. The sleeve is probably most suitable for laptops with more rounded edges but if you have the same laptop I do, it will fit just fine with just a little bit of pulling to get it to fit. The sleeve seems to be made well enough so I'm not too concerned with it ripping easily. The case is nicely padded but still slim so it will fit comfortably in a larger laptop bag, backpack, or even a large purse. I got the purple case and it is a beautiful color! To me, it looks like a grape purple and I couldn't be happier with my selection.
