The white ones are great...the black ones are crap
Note that the white ones are definitely different than the black ones. I bought 2 white ones and 2 black ones (because * have four headphones at home and in both cars, and want to leave an adapter with all 4 headphones...or I'll never remember to carry around one adapter for all). I would give a "5" for the white ones, but a "1" for the black ones. The whites/blacks are definitely manufactured differently because the black ones are .5 inches longer. But the problem with the black ones is they are too "loose" and the plug slips out with the slightest movement. The white ones have a positive engagement "click" and are secure. Both my black ones are worthless because as soon as I grab my phone to go for a walk, etc, the plug slides out of the adapter and whatever I'm listening to disengages. I'm ordering 2 more "whites" and they are outstanding. BTW, I tried to give feedback for the black adapters and they will not allow any Reviews...I suspect because they have a product defect and got too many negative reviews but want to sell off their inventory.

Fine if you don’t move. At all.
The main problem with this is that the headphones do not securely attach to the adapter. It slips out easily, and each time it does, it stops the music completely. If you’re trying to use these to listen to music while working out, it’s very difficult. The sound goes in and out at random times. I guess if you want to use them and keep absolutely still, they MIGHT be alright, otherwise keep shopping.

It just works
Here it is, early-2019 and I recently updated my iPhone technology to the iPhone 7 Plus, a model without the standard headphone jack. I have numerous earbuds with 3.5mm audio plugs, so I bought this adapter to render them still usable. My fingers were crossed the adapter would allow the earbuds to work for all purposes (music, talking over the phone, using Skype). Based on reviews I've read on many of these adapter products I was wary, because many allow the earbuds to work but not the microphone function. This product arrived. I tested it under all circumstances on the iPhone 7 Plus. It worked for listening to podcasts, for two-way communication over cellphone, and for two-way communication over Skype.Just now I ordered two more.-0-I had a discussion over Skype using earbuds attached to the adapter to the iPhone. I think the audio quality was better than I'm used to. I don't know why it would be, but it did seem better audio quality.I assume this adapter is a PASSIVE device; I don't believe there's active electronic circuitry inside, bevcause there isn't room. If that assumption is correct, it means analog audio is available on the lightning port of the iPhone 7 Plus. The only reason I mention that is because in reviews for these adapter products, some people have written about the "digital-analog circuitry" in these various adapters. I'm not convinced there is A-D/D-A circuitry in any of them. I think they all are passive devices. FWIW.ADDITION: after reading other reviews, such as the lightning plug fitting loosely into the lightning jack, or a 3.5mm headphone plug fitting loosely into the jack: myself, I haven't experienced those issues. In fact the lightning plug fits quite firmly into my iphone and in the lightning jacks on my three iPad tablets.

Solved my teleworking problem, mic included
I need to work hands-free with my iPhone, and the iPhone built-in speaker wears my ears out with prolonged exposure. This device is perfect for my needs. Unlike what the lead review says, it absolutely DOES handle your headset microphone (if you need it to) as well as earphones. It takes a standard 3.5mm plug. If you need the mic capability, your plug should have a metal tip plus three more rings (mic, left, right, and ground). If you don't need the mic capability, your plug will have one fewer rings. The device has plenty of volume with the headphones I'm using, and I'm sure it will for any setup. I run my iPhone at about 75 percent volume, and your hearing is probably waaaay better than mine.I'm a hard-core audiophile. I can't tolerate bad sound when listening to music. I'm happily listening to Jazz at the Pawnshop while I'm writing this. Its sound through my Sennheiser Game One headset is far better than it has any right to.All pros and no cons: I HIGHLY recommend this product!

works well
Didn't try with microphone. But it works well for earphones. Seems well made. When searching for this originally, I found other brands with *many* suspicious reviews. Anyway, this product seems fine.

better than the Apple brand version of same product.
I bought this unit to replace the adapter that had come with my iPhone 7 which I lost about one year ago. Interestingly, this one appears to be better than the original Apple product. The wire which connects the lightning adapter to the earphone jack, feels like it’s heavier and higher quality, which makes it appear that it would be more reliable. and for the price I paid, it’s more than worth the investment, and highly recommended. The only negative, is I wish the wire was maybe an inch or so longer to make it not so easy to lose. seems to produce excellent sound quality, and also connects well and securely so do not hesitate to buy this product.

Perfect! Love it!
Very satisfied with my purchase. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to work because almost every accessory I’ve bought for my iPhone has stopped working after the first use, so I had low expectations for this. But it worked right away and hasn’t had any problems since. I love it.I bought this so that I could connect my MaxxRock sleep headphones to my iPhone to use at night. The standard issue Apple headphones are ridiculously painful to sleep with, so I was so happy to find an accessory that allowed me to use my preferred headphones.

Works well
Bought this because my favourite running earbuds are wired, and I haven’t found a pair of wireless earbuds that are actually sweat proof. During the summer months I sweat hard while running, and the result is that it will short out wireless earbuds. I’ve had no issues with this connector and it seems well constructed. The wire feels thick and durable enough, and each end has an aluminum casing. Headphones click into place and stay put while I’m running. Microphone in my earbuds also works with it with no issues.

One of the better ones out there.
It was hard plugging in the first 2-3 times, but eventually it wore me in. Sound quality is great.

White dongle is a Good product. Audio quality between my pre-amp and this dongle is very close.
Used AKG and Bowers and Wilkins headphones to test, and the audio quality is superb.Note: People have said that black dongle may not be as good as white, so beware.
