A HG product for sure! - This is a longtime favorite nighttime moisturizer of mine. I have dry, acne prone skin that's difficult to keep moisturized. I also use a retinoid to keep my skin clear, which makes my skin even drier. This is a thick, almost greasy (but in a good, moisturizing way) cream that's perfect for layering on overnight to wake up to soft, supple skin. It absorbs quickly and while it does leave a slight amount of residue on top of your skin, it's not noticeable unless you apply makeup overtop. I have tried a thin layer under my makeup on my dryer and it doesn't have any ill effect on my makeup, but if you don't wipe off the excess first it feels like wearing a mask. It's also heavily scented like melon flavored candy, but I like the smell of it. It's not an overpowering smell, but it's very obvious there's perfume in it when you open the jar. It fades after application. If your skin gets irritated by perfumes in your products this may not be for you, but this moisturizer doesn't irritate my acne prone skin. I guess I should have read the ingredients more carefully and now I see melon listed as a fragrance and I HATE that scent. If you love melons you will be fine it is a good cream but if that scent turns your stomach as it does mine then it will go straight into the trash. Hardly worth returning. WHY MELON? **Q: Can this be used aa makeup primer?** A: No. It's a heavy moisturizer.Like CeraVe thick cream if you get me. It will be greasy, besides I'm not crazy for the smell above anywhere other than feet with thick socks. Derma-E does however make both a fabulous day and night cream. I have both and love them in winter, but it's too heavy for summer. But I don't think they make a primer. Oddly what I do like is the MyChelle reef safe facial sunscreen spf 28 unscented. For whatever reason it seems to work as a primer though it's not one! I don't get why either. Also dosen't give you "ghosting' on your face. If you're looking for a natural cosmetics primer, look for Gabriel cosmetics. I think they make one. I've used their foundation before and it's lovely.
