CHARMING STORY IN HONOR OF BOOKS AND LIBRARIANS
If your love of books has changed your life, this sweet childrens' book, based upon a real bookmobile librarian, will warm your heart. Todays children are used to obtaining books for free at their local library, or accessing them over the internet. The dedication and devotion that bookmobile librarians often extended to people in remote areas, is unknown to them. This book, and many others of this genre, is a tribute to books and to those who brought them to families far and wide.

A love of reading and exploring passed on to others
This was a heart warming book that showed a woman's love of books that was passed to children and they fell in love with books and reading. The love and appreciation of they had for her and her work for them. Miss Dorothy was a hero by spreading her love and kindness to the community she loved and served.

Great story
This was one of my daughter's favorite library books. She received it as a gift and was so happy to actually own it. It's a great story.

Miss Dorothy and Her Bookmobile
I purchased two copies of this book for my grandchildren for Christmas primarily because my husband had worked on a bookmobile as a child. I had also read a very positive review in a recent publication. After reading the book, I was thrilled with the writing, the pictures and the fact that it was based on a real librarian. Also had not remembered that the author was from North Carolina. I love having books that are from NC authors. All around, a great addition to our book collection.

A delightful story telling about librarian Miss Dorothy, whose dream was to work in a brick library. However, she married a man whose life was to be on a farm, so it was Miss Dorothy's role to take the books to the people where they lived. She did this in a bookmobile.

READ all about it.
Based on a true story, this is a REAL librarian. A great addition to any reading unit on how children obtain an education despite their circumstances.

All about books!
Gloria Houston continues to write great books advocating reading. Miss Dorothy is the embodiement of all librarians who truly love books and those who read them. We need more Miss Dorothys to inspire our children to read.I loved Miss Arizona, also by Ms. Houston for the same reason. The illustrations of Susan Condie lamb certainly help the story come alive. I will be using this book as a read-aloud for second and third graders!
