Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC

My kids and I love this book. Reading ABC books can be painstaking for parents if the child does not take much interest in learning letters. I hate to turn to technology to help me since kids are already overwhelmed with media at such young ages. This book was fun, funny, and exciting for my 5 year old and me! We hunted for the letters on each page, and the ending is really cute! The best part was that my daughter actually recognized more letters after reading this book a few times! Finally!

It's a good book to read to kids but the rhymes are a bit off. Makes it hard to read smoothly through the book. But it's very interactive for the kids which helps them pay attention to what is being read.

This is a great ABC book. It has a different format then I have seen before. The pirates go out to look for and collect the letters. My only complaint is some of the letters might be hard to make out for a kid just learning the alphabet. Regardless a great ABC book to help get kids excited to learn.

My 4 year old is learning his letters and this book is an absolutely wonderful tool. He is obsessed with pirates and this book is all about them, and their quest to find all the letters in the alphabet. The pictures have the kids identifying the letters at least twice on every page, and they go in alphabetical order, with easy rhymes for kid to follow along. Love it!!!!

My autistic son will actually let me read this to him. Each page is short enough that it's a quick read (for a children's book), and the pictures are fun and interesting. It's a nice children's book.

I love the book and the story!!

This is an adorable and entertaining book! I did it as a read-aloud to my first grade class and they immediately asked me to read it again. Prior to reading, I asked them if they knew what Pirates said, and they all growled, "ARGH!" which was the perfect lead-in to this story..."R" said the pirate. "R's not enough! We need more letters to make us sound tough!" So the pirates go off in search of the entire alphabet. The pictures and rhyming text make it a very enjoyable story.

My 20 month old son loves this book so much, he sleeps with it. The rhymes are cute, the illustrations are beautiful and vibrant, and it's not too wordy for a child as young as mine. He loves all the "arrrrrgghh"s and does the hook hand whenever we read it. I seriously recommend this book for any budding pirate fanatics :)

Does not work as a kindle book, buy it as a paperback. Book would be great but the kindle version is a waste of money. Very disappointed

This book has nice pictures but isn't an intuitive one for a child of 3 to follow. Not the best book for helping with the alphabet.

A mi hijo le encantan los piratas y pensé que estaría genial para aprender el alfabeto con ellos, pero la verdad es que el libro no le gustó nada, tan poco que cada vez que le digo que se lo voy a contar huye. Nada recomendable.
