Permission to Mourn: A New Way to Do Grief

A beautiful and inspirational read
I've read way too many books since my 8 year old grandson was killed 6 months ago. I've discovered new ways to perceive, to think..but often, since my brain isn't working well, they start to run together in my head. Tom's very easy read doesn't land in your wounded brain. It landed in my broken heart. It gives me hope. My daughter, Luke's mom said of all she has read this book has meant the most to her as well. Love and blessings

Different, but good
I liked the short chapters, she kept referring to breathing. It was okay . I took away a few things from her book. I would find it not digging to deep into feeling and such. It would be a easy non difficult book to hold a teens interest enough to finish it. Also my husband seemed to relate to it as well.Grief is a sneaky creature, you can read threw and be fine one day ,and sobbing the next. So I am not sure there is a good or bad book on grieving. The whole subject isn't pleasant. The going threw it I mean.

Best book for grief
I was recommended this book for parents' group after my daughter passed. I can't recommend more this book. It was very helpful in the worst time of my life.

A grief book for people who don't like to read
An easy read given the topic. Great as a gift or for yourself. Gives you room to think on the topic while validating your experience. Easy to read a "chapter" or 2, put down, and pick up in a different place. Always something to glean

Moving, profound, could not put it down....
The author explains right away that his experiences are not unlike your own, and yet his loss was so profound that you feel for him and realize that you have empathy for him and for your own loss and yourself. It is my belief that he writes it to show you slowly, step by step, and breaches the "new way of grieving" so carefully that you don't even realize that you are seeing things differently. I don't want to give a spoiler alert but one part of the book that is not his but he develops so articulately is "A shift in perception" very profound and so beautiful written is how he prays for that... I pray for that as well... and I don't pray... but I finally get it... you will too! Thank you so much for sharing your story and your path in healing.

Helps those grieving
This book is written for all those dealing with grief. Never imagined that one little book could help me understand that my emotions, pain and thoughts could be experienced by someone else and put into words so eloquently. Please read to better understand you are not alone or without help.

Permission to Live, Love and see Light at the end of the tunnel.......even the deep deep deep dark ones!
Tom Zuba puts the actual emotional roller coaster, true feelings, experiences and bodily behaviors that one experiences on a mental, emotional and physical level into words like pure poetry. Recently purchased this, as it was recommended by a friend on a loss and grief board that I belonged to on FB, having recently lost my triplets. Our angels, Noah, Cadence and Carys entered our lives briefly on April 9, 2016 and left within minutes on the same day. My wife and I have been having a REALLY hard time with this. The loss of a child is so profound. I have buried my parents, at a young age, but the loss of a child rocks you to your inner core. We are taught and raised, IMO, in western society (USA), to grieve a certain way. These are the steps of grief, yadda, yadda, but Tom Zuba actually makes you do a lot of self-reflection so that you can heal and move forward and on, under your terms, for your peace. It is a refreshing way to deal with loss and grief. I used it as a workbook and ordered several other copies after the fact. I made my therapist and bereavement counselor aware of this book, and I have also given one as a gift to a beloved Aunt that recently lost her hubby of 53 years. Tom will also interact with you on FB. The other thing I LOVED about this book is that it is written like poetry. It's not overwhelming AT all for someone in the grief and mourning process. He also gives recommendations in his preface for other authors that helped him get where he is, additionally, some of those are free on Amazon's Kindle unlimited feature and app. I would buy and read anything this man publishes in the future.

I bought this book after my partner passed away. I have many grief books but this one...and I only received it today us quite literally wonderful. I can feel the warmth and compassion coming from Tom Zuba and everything I have read I resonate with. This book will be a companion for me on the most difficult journey of my life. I love it.

Tom Zuba
This book is incredible ... it will become a classic book on grief I think. My son died two years and three months ago aged 33 leaving three children behind. I wish my husband and I had had this book months ago. Lots of the content I think you come round to thinking yourself if you want to be a survivor .... but this book puts it so well. It is a gem of social book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has lost a close family member. Many many thanks Tom Zuba.

Enlightening
A new perspective on grief from an excellent writer who has experienced the loss of his wife and two of his children. Having lost two children of my own, his words resonated. Highly recommended.
