Wise Minded Parenting: 7 Essentials for Raising Successful Tweens + Teens

The book was listed as a good quality used book. I gave 2 stars bc the pages inside are intact an undamaged but the back and front covers looks like the book was run over by a car. Both the back and front cover are covered in a black residue. The residue/dirt does somewhat wipe off easily with a paper towel (paper towel gently rubbed on cover included with photo above). For a book covered in dirt, the quality was not as advertised.

As a New York City mom, faced with all the usual adolescent angst PLUS extreme independence generated by the way we live here (city buses at 12 or younger, the subway shortly after...and yes, alone), I find Dr. Kastner's take on parenting a godsend. It makes sense, it's backed up by science, supported by case histories, fascinating and even entertaining to read. We all know parenting (especially of teens) is a challenge; this book will make you feel less alone and clueless, WAY more equipped to deal, and secure in the knowledge that your teenager is SUPPOSED to be impossible...he/she is literally wired that way. Fortunately, with Dr. Kastner by your side, you'll know what to do (and what not to do) about it.

All of Laura Kastner's books are full of great information for parents with teens. This book covered lots of real-life situations and how to handle them more skillfully. It's essential reading for parents of teens and pre-teens.

This is another excellent book from Dr. Kastner. I only wish I had it in hand when my kids were teenagers. She does a great job of deciphering the evidence on hand and turning it into something useful for parents. How to maintain and, hopefully, build relationships through what is often a turbulent period can be invaluable.

Oh my goodness, this has helped me SO much. I am a lot less frazzled and am learning to let goof the stuff that will just get us into fights. Instead I now favor bringing more attention to the long term goals that will be important to his success. Great book.

Fabulous book....buy it and enjoy the wisdom. I heard the author speak and she had so much knowledge and common sense....book is well worth the cost.

As a parent of tweens, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. The type in this book is so small, it's illegible to me. Be forewarned-- you might have trouble reading this book!
