Westport Home The Aspen Futon Frame, Full

This is a great piece of furniture for the price. It is very nice looking and nicely finished. The built in side tables are really wonderful and very easy to set them. As a bed, the clearance needed from the wall is minimal, so you can set up the bed technically without having to move the couch. The BIG problem is that it takes a major amount of effort to make it into a bed, if you have it as a couch, and the other way as well. We had multiple other futons and it has usually been easy to do it, once you figure out the way to move it. This futon requires 2 people using brute force to do it. We end up having to move it away from the wall so we can work from behind as well. Even then it takes us, if we are lucky by trial and error, at least 5 minutes to set it up, and then move it back into position. Once we had to take the futon mattress off and then still had a real hard time setting it up as a bed. We use it as a bed only occasionally so it is not a big deal, but if you plan to use it more often than every few months, you will be as frustrated as we are.Maybe we got a bum piece, but looking at the mechanism, there does not seem to be the case, the engineering just does not seem to work.

Despite the issues with the shipment of this item; once I finally got an undamaged item, it assembled with moderate ease. It says you need at least two people for assembly, I managed to get it done alone. Although, a helping hand to drop the "bed" into the "frame" would have been great!It came with improper hardware, which was easily replaced at my local hardware store. Also, amazon picked up the tab for that.The frame is pretty cool, barring the pre-fav misalignments and improper pieces in the hardware... If you're handy enough you can correct these issues, but for the money you can do better...If you have "OCD" about the "little things", this item is not for you...

Beautfiul, sturdy, easy to assemble, well made, and I love the side tables.

Solid wood and no complaint.

I bought one of these locally, and I absolutely love it. You really want two people to put it together though.
