The Big Book of Boat Canvas: A Complete Guide to Fabric Work on Boats

Bought this because a cohort that also sails recommended it. It is quite well done, very informative and almost perfect… I say almost because despite that plethora of great ideas and how to make things out of canvas for a boat, there's zero info in it about sail repair… but that's not a shortfall, it was just my expectation. If you're looking for a pattern to make anything except sails, this is the book for you. The author did a wonderful job if including every item I could think of in canvas repair and fabrication projects. With this book you can and will be able to sew anything. She's quite a remarkable writer too. Kept my attention through all of the mundane introductory stuff and what I like best, is that she actually has sewn these projects without an industrial or commercial sewing machine. LOVED this!

I expected a few tips on canvas sewing. I got a bunch of great tips on canvas sewing AND project ideas and helpful details for planning! Much more than I expected

This book seems to be an older edition with plenty of information. Interesting book. It's just okay and not a must have in my opinion.

This book will be very helpful once I start applying what I learned from it. It has many details about different items needed if you own a boat. There are terms I never heard of, since I am not a boat owner, but will be helpful as I am in the sewing business and my specialty is making cushions. I have always wanted to move into another direction with my skills and boat canvas items are a high demand area of expertise that is needed in my area.

Not very comprehensive.

This book is very vague. Not concise and clear at all. I have a similar book from Sailrite and that book is fantastic in its detail. I was hoping for more of the same from this book. Disappointed.

Lot of good ideas. Long time sailor and new to sewing my own. Gives a self sufficient guy tools to perfect the canvas work on a boat

Great technical info on how to attack canvas issues

Its a nice book, but not very informative. The details on any section is very limited. I bought it because I thought by its description that it would cover making boat canopies, bimini's etc But you couldn't actually make anything from scratch using this book. Had I seen it before I purchased it I would never have bought it. It's nice to look through to get ideas, but practically it's not much use.

Good ideas

This book is printed on cheap paper and some of the photographs are very poorly printed and hardly visible they are so dark. I would definitely not recommend buying, especially at this price. The content is also outdated.

Loads of great projects and advice completely spoiled by poor quality paper and printing.Photographs are indistinct.Overall a great disappointment.
